With all the rumors and speculation about whats going to happen or who's going to be here next year how can Hart be absolutely silent? Isn't this killing any recruiting we had going to this point?

Regardless of the decision, Hart needs to come out with something I would think and the fact that he's silent tells me Dooley won't be back. If he was going to stay wouldn't the AD have publicly shown some type of support for recruits sake???

Thoughts?

I won't disagree with you guys, but if he's going to keep him, he would probably remain silent until he offers an extension. We all know what the vote of confidence means - he's probably too smart to throw that out there.

You would think it's hurting recruiting for some of the high profile recruits as they don't even know if the staff recruiting them will be coaching them next year. That being said, if it's Gruden, then he could come in December and list his new coaching staff and pull in a top 10-15 recruiting class in just a month. Kiffin pulled in a top 10 class in 2 months.

I'm sure he wants to can him but TN is real short on cash thanks to Hammy. So now it's a waiting game to find the cash.

Comments draw attention. My thought is he letting timing of the plan work. Doing some things too early doesn't help.

He said somewhere maybe a few weeks ago or maybe longer that he will evaluate at the end of the year. I think at this points its safe to say nothing will happen until the end of the year, maybe with the potential loss(es) coming up something could happen earlier. Either way though there isn't much to say. I don't think he will give him the vote of confidence for someone he is going to fire. I think at this point all you can do is let the season take its course and find a new coach.

Public vote of confidence is what usually means the coach is in big trouble. Much of the behind the scenes activity has come from people on the periphery of the AD and not Hart or his underlings. I believe right now Hart, Dooley, recruits know or have been informed that most likely Dooley will be back next year. Hart is smart enough to know solid football when he sees it. This team is 90% there, with better players in secondary and more consistent qb play UT is sitting at 7-1. We're light years ahead of what Dooley walked into in 2010 and even 2011. Maybe W-L doesn't tell that story, maybe defensive stats don't but when you look under the hood, objectively, you can see what's there. I say if the guy has gotten you to this far, let him get that 4th year to take that next step and prove he can win 9+ games, gut out those 2 extra wins against GA and USC, possibly UF. Remember Auburn with Cam Newton was a few plays away from 7-5, the edge is that close. If you can't get or pay your homerun guy, give Dooley the 4th year to show what he can do with a competent starting 11 on both sides of the ball.

I think his silence is telling. Dooley will likely be gone at the end of the season.

The right coach can come in and make a splash in recruiting. I'm thinking most of our commitments we already have are sold more on the school, tradition, facilities, and such than on coaching alone.

This post can't be serious.

No really, you're joking, right?

I believe Hart doesn't want to close any doors at this point, and knows he can get much more done behind the scenes than he can by talking to the media.

Hart is the smart guy in all of this. He is keeping his cards to the vest. The only people harming recruiting are the fans who are spreading rumors. Other coaches are using them against Tennessee.

I think, at least so far, he's handling it the right way by keeping his mouth shut. There's no need to do anything at this point, it just gets people asking questions. We aren't gonna have a Search if this goes the right way.:shhh:

Oh yeah! I am sure the product on the field and all the loses do not hurt recruiting at all. It's all those dang message board people. :eek:lol:

Dooley will not be back. And Dooley's history against ranked opponents will not get any better with another year. Neyland wont be full one time next season, muchless this season under Dooley. Nobody has any confidence in him. This isnt Harts decision, he has been told to let it get handled and they will let Hart know whats going on.

yes because only beating Vandy, Ky and Ole Piss doesn't hurt recruiting. It's all the fans' fault.

Big problem with this argument: Dooley will not get much support next year. If for no other reason, it is time to make a change because of the outcry. Giving Dooley another year will not help recruiting.

Other coaches are just informing players what Hart says or does not say about the future of Dooley.

I keep thinking he needs to do something then I remember he's in that position for a reason and I don't have the first clue about his job. I'm certain he has a plan and knows what he's doing and what's best.
