What I hear is something along the lines of “I pulled back because of the way our defense was playing, hell of a job.”

Nice. From one QB to another, Heupel making sure Nico knows this was not a vote of no-confidence in him. That's an effective QB-recruiting video!

But the truth is, OU's defense was going to get an interception sooner [sic] or later if we continued with our normal play calling. Wily D Coordinator had been preparing 9 months for this game, and no way any freshman QB is going to recognize those kinds of traps and know on-the-fly how to avoid them. Not even The Forehead.

And BTW: if Heupel's ego had been on the line, it would have led him to challenge that OU defense--and probably lose the game.

lol I was like dang maybe I shouldn’t have shared it, but figured it was interesting! We all knew this already, and we all heard him essentially admit to it in the post game interview. But this is the nail in the coffin. Anyone from other fan bases saying we are coping, it’s straight from the horses mouth.

Real talk, it’s so infuriating when other fanbases try to argue about what happened. We’ve watched 4yrs of Heupel coaching games, I think we know what holding back is when we see it.
