I was curious about what you think of these coaches, If Tennessee does move on from Pearl. Mostly how well are they thought of for there coaching and recruiting and if they would be a good fit at Tennessee.
Thanks.
Mike Anderson, Gregg Marshall, Mike Dunlap, Kerry Keating, Lawrence Frank, Rick Byrd, Cliff Warren, Blaine Taylor, Shaka Smart, Lon Kruger.

Anderson-Top flight.
Marshall-I wanted him hired when Tennessee hired Pearl.
Dunlap-Probably will be an assistant the rest of his career.
Keating-Once a hot property, hasn't done well enough at Santa Clara yet to merit a move up.
Frank-Brilliant tactician, not sure how interested he'd be in coming back to the college game.
Byrd-Superb coach, seems to be comfortable to live his career out at Belmont.
Warren-Revived a completely dormant program, still needs to win his league.
Taylor-Another fanatastic tactical coach, not sure he has any real interest in getting involved in the big conference rat race.
Smart-I haven't seen anything to indicate he's cut out to be a head coach in the big time.
Kruger-A personal favorite, class personified.

These guys seemed like a group who Tennessee could get if Pearl was let go. What Happened to Mike Dunlap? Why can't he get a nice mid-major job like Pearl? He has two D2 National Titles with a 248-50 record and is known a coaching wiz.

He chose to go to the NBA as an assistant instead of trying to work his way up the ladder in D-I. He's also a rather odd guy.

Lawerence Frank would be the most interesting prospect of that group.

Frank would be interesting indeed. How long was he at UT? Was it just a year under O'Neill? Anderson would be my favorite, as he was I 2005. Wouldn't mind Marshall at all.

Excuse me for asking a stupid question about Mike Anderson, but why would he leave Missouri for Tennessee. I would say that Missouri at this point has as much if not more history in hoops that UT. Would the payday be that much greater at UT than Missouri to entice him?

Nor did I. I like Anderson for a lot of reasons, but believe he could recruit like a wild man here.

That's my one question about Anderson is his recruiting.

The thing about Lawrence Frank being a former NBA head coach, is high school kids eat that up even if you sucked like Sidney Lowe. Lawrence Frank could hire a couple of assistants with good high school b-ball connections and he would be set.

I like Gregg Marshall and have followed him for awhile. His latest teams seem to full court press and use a ball line man defense and zone defense. I like that his teams can actually switch up defenses. He runs a motion offense and has Chad Dollar on his staff who is well connected in Atlanta high school basketball. Tennessee can't lose that pipeline. He makes 950k.

I wouldn't be too worried about Frank's recruiting ability. I just wouldn't expect him to be here long term if he was hired.

That'd be the biggest concern. In my opinion, if he was here for just five years, I think it'd be worth. I think he could lead us to a Final Four. JMO
