Says who? Just because we want to win?
If Fulmer was losing he would not stay around. Yes CMS was gone after four years, but the program was on decline. He was fired because he proposed not coaching staff change, just as Cutclif was at Ole Miss.
that's kind of my point...Mike Shula won ten games just a year ago, lost some players (graduation/injury) and finsished this year 6-6 and headed to a bowl.
Next season would have been the first full year with all his guys, the first year really where the NCAA sanctions wouldn't have been felt...and they let him go...and at the end of the day, wasn't it because he lost to Auburn........again?
let me re phrase...say bama beat Auburn this season. Is Mike Shula still your head coach? honestly....you and i both know he is. the real fire didn't get turned up on Shula until after the auburn game...yeah, there were rumblings before it, but it went in to a full blown bon fire after that game.
the comparison to Cut at Ole Miss is more evidence for me....cause that move sure has paid off for them hasn't it? they fired a guy for similar reasons, after the same guy takes them to and wins the Cotton Bowl..........at freakin' Ole Miss. goes to 5 straight bowl games...........at freakin' Ole Miss.........and then has the audacity to have a losing season...........at freakin' Ole Miss. and they fire him. Like Losing seasons are "new" in oxford or something. Ole Miss got a little too big for their britches and pulled a Bama, so to speak. But at least in Bama's defense, they actually have been relevent in football in the past 20 years, whereas Ole Miss hadn't sniffed a conf championship of any kind since the 60's or something (the only champ. of any kind they've had in the past 40 years, was co western division champs with LSU in 03). and all the sudden, 3-8 is completely unacceptable in oxford?...ok, sure. what was their record again the past couple of years with the new guy????
Don't get me wrong, Bama will be back eventually...i know this. but you guys have made a bed that isn't very comfortable to lay in these days. that's why everyone has turned down that job. and they will continue to do so until Bama proves at some point they are willing to stick with a guy they choose.
at what point does Mal Moore get any heat for all these terrible coaching hires he's apparently got a knack for making? isn't he the real bad guy here? this guy has put up a big goose egg in quality hires...he's hiring and firing folks on a whim, yet he's being allowed to continue to do so with out any accountability...at some point, someone has to ask, "who keeps hiring all these idiots that apparently can't keep a job at Alabama???"
it's just a mess down there right now.
the SEC is better when all the big boys are good....when Bama, TN, UGA, Auburn, LSU, FL etc...are all really good, it's always real ineteresting.
