Have Bama fans always been this clueless?

At least we're tolerant of your opinions....last Bammer sites I've hit they have all gone into fetal position damage control banning anyone with the a post that not a glowing endorsement of all things Bama. The moderator actually pinned a sticky stating it on the last one I was checking out.:salute:

I Have been tolerated here, but if you read my post, I didnt come in hear bashing UT. With that being said if you go to the Bama site that I am a member of and be somewhat respectful, you will not be banned for sure. Actually where I am a member they tolerate other fans very well, and welcome them.

There was a WV fan come in talking smack, and he's still not banned to date.

Did I miss something??? I think this statement pretty much sums up why the Bammers get treated the way they do.

Yes you missed something. You missed th fact that the program was on decline and CMS would NOT fire staff. What happened after UT's bad season of 2005? Cutcliff was brought back in.

In reply to Jake.

Says who? Just because we want to win?

If Fulmer was losing he would not stay around. Yes CMS was gone after four years, but the program was on decline. He was fired because he proposed not coaching staff change, just as Cutclif was at Ole Miss.
that's kind of my point...Mike Shula won ten games just a year ago, lost some players (graduation/injury) and finsished this year 6-6 and headed to a bowl.

Next season would have been the first full year with all his guys, the first year really where the NCAA sanctions wouldn't have been felt...and they let him go...and at the end of the day, wasn't it because he lost to Auburn........again?

let me re phrase...say bama beat Auburn this season. Is Mike Shula still your head coach? honestly....you and i both know he is. the real fire didn't get turned up on Shula until after the auburn game...yeah, there were rumblings before it, but it went in to a full blown bon fire after that game.

the comparison to Cut at Ole Miss is more evidence for me....cause that move sure has paid off for them hasn't it? they fired a guy for similar reasons, after the same guy takes them to and wins the Cotton Bowl..........at freakin' Ole Miss. goes to 5 straight bowl games...........at freakin' Ole Miss.........and then has the audacity to have a losing season...........at freakin' Ole Miss. and they fire him. Like Losing seasons are "new" in oxford or something. Ole Miss got a little too big for their britches and pulled a Bama, so to speak. But at least in Bama's defense, they actually have been relevent in football in the past 20 years, whereas Ole Miss hadn't sniffed a conf championship of any kind since the 60's or something (the only champ. of any kind they've had in the past 40 years, was co western division champs with LSU in 03). and all the sudden, 3-8 is completely unacceptable in oxford?...ok, sure. what was their record again the past couple of years with the new guy????

Don't get me wrong, Bama will be back eventually...i know this. but you guys have made a bed that isn't very comfortable to lay in these days. that's why everyone has turned down that job. and they will continue to do so until Bama proves at some point they are willing to stick with a guy they choose.

at what point does Mal Moore get any heat for all these terrible coaching hires he's apparently got a knack for making? isn't he the real bad guy here? this guy has put up a big goose egg in quality hires...he's hiring and firing folks on a whim, yet he's being allowed to continue to do so with out any accountability...at some point, someone has to ask, "who keeps hiring all these idiots that apparently can't keep a job at Alabama???"

it's just a mess down there right now.

the SEC is better when all the big boys are good....when Bama, TN, UGA, Auburn, LSU, FL etc...are all really good, it's always real ineteresting.

I will just say - I'm with Jake on this one!!!

Your board of trustees and AD are the most dilusional out there, unrealistic expectations for a program that is just picking itself back only hurt you in the end. Besides - if you are going to fire a coach and replace him with an "experienced national tile winner" - wouldn't you hire that one before you fire the other?

You know what Jake, I can agree with just about this whole statment. Good post.

Well here is how I see it. Personally I thought CMS would have done a good job, and I wanted him to stay until I found out he wasnt going to make coaching changes.

If you watched most of all the Bama games you would have seen that Bama made no improvements from the first quarter of the season to the last quarter of the season. That says something in itself. Don't you agree that we should have improved some? We had a chance to win every game we played this year, but the same coaching decisions were made every time.

Also I think Mal Moore should get rung up as well. He deserves some heat as well, and I think he may be getting some. I know most Bama fans are fired up at him.

And yes the heat was turned up after we played the Barn.

Or those kicks against Arkansas. I dont think he gets fired if he ends with a winning season. Plus beating Arkansas would have sounded much much better for their best win of the season. Instead it was...Hawaii. :birgits_giggle:

Well Rev, you just proved to be the excepiton to the Bama fan stereotype and i applaud you for your rationale and objectiveness.

I would agree with you about imroving during the season...but the only thing i would say in rebutle would be that you have a freshman qb, lost two outstanding defensive players to the NFL, still have a key WR out with injury and a running back that fell short of pre season expectations.

to me, i think Bama's biggest issue this year was youth and inexperience. JPW was thrown to the wolves....defenses took the running game away and made JPW try and beat them. not a bad gamble with the caliber of defense in the SEC against a freshman qb.

there have been decisions made regarding coaches at bama that i didn't disagree with. I never thought Dubose was that good. i though Price and Franchione were just plain bad hires.

Mike Shula however, i think kind of got the shaft. i think the staff changes he was "forced" to supposedly make was what the admin had to fall back on...after all, they couldn't come out and say publically: "no one loses to Auburn 4 years in a row, goes 1-3 against TN and remains the HC at Alabama".

and yes i'm a TN fan so i don't like Alabama...but trust me, the opinions and views you are reading here from me, and fellow VN posters...really is indicative of the national perception on the current situaiton at Alabama.

and unfortunately, in lieu of evidence proving otherwise, percepiton is reality. Potential coaches, recruits etc....know this too.

Problem is, no matter who coaches your team in 2007, you're winning 8-9 games. The talent was so young this past season. If CMS were given 1 more year, he'd have won 9+ games. Now, whoever comes in, will win more games and get a huge ol' contract extension, and you won't know for 3-4 years if he's any good.

Wow, I cant argue with one word of this. Great points, and some of which I have forgotten till now.

Oh well its done now, and hopefully we can move on. I think the next coach will have a steady job for a while though given what has gone on.

Also do we agree with me about the Bear?

in that it's not comparing said head coach directly with Paul Bryant, yes, i agree with that.

i still contend that the legacy he left is what every HC at bama will have to contend with.

but, no, it's not a direct side by side "bryant did it this way, therefore this is the wrong way" type comparison.

Hey Roll Tide Rev, while you're here I got a question for you. I asked this site but no one knew...why is Alabama called the Capstone?

#43
#43
Alabama President George Denny in a 1913 speech used the term capstone when refering to Bama.

"The University of Alabama is the capstone of the public system...."

Definition of Capstone:

Noun 1. capstonecapstone - a final touch; a crowning achievement; a culmination
copestone, finishing touch
touch - deftness in handling matters; "he has a master's touch"
2. capstone - a stone that forms the top of wall or building
coping stone, copestone, stretcher
stone - building material consisting of a piece of rock hewn in a definite shape for a special purpose; "he wanted a special stone to mark the site"
wall - an architectural partition with a height and length greater than its thickness; used to divide or enclose an area or to support another structure; "the south wall had a small window"; "the walls were covered with pictures"

In all honesty, I think Bama is special. It gets a rise out of most fans, and they can't keep from talking about us. Hey it's better to be talked bad about than not talked about at all right? I dont see any threads about Montana St. here. Why? Well we know why dont we.

rev it's not a rise your hearing it's laughter. There is a difference. And don't give me that crap about not having UT on your front page. Last year we were on your front page all the time. Especially if a kid got in trouble or when we lost a game. So don't go high and mighty on us over here. It's laughter not a rise and the whole nation is laughing.

I wasnt eluding to the fact that I thought you were making fun (which you are), and the fact that we are on your minds. I said it mostly in jest, but also to the fact that you like talking about us. LOL! :)

Oh and during the season you better believe were talking crap! Wouldnt have it any other way.

Chill brother. I mean no harm. I come in peace.

In the off season you talk about us as well. Not this year because you are to busy praising a coach one day then bashing him once he also turns you down. And Rev, the world is laughing at bammer. That is a fact! Bammer has been relegated to little more than humor. Younger people don't know you and those of us in our 30's and up just enjoy laughing at you.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? I can understand you wanting to make a point, but do you have to be a jerk?
