Have we ever signed so few recruits on NSD?

Can't remember ever walking out of NSD with just 19 recruits.

This is the worst class I can remember from when I started following it. 10-12 years ago.

It isn't Pruitt's fault though. Butch left us in a very bad position.

Remember were losing out on kids that we should have had no chance of even being a hat on the table after last season.

And we couldn’t afford to miss like we did at corner. Very concerning class. I think the next two years will be long

Agree...Not getting one of the higher rated guys is concerning but also I'm not so sure the guys we did get were any better than the ones we let go.I personally think we upgraded sum,but not the level we had hoped for..Cross ur fingers these guys can coach,if not it's gonna be a long season and then some.

You do realize we went 4-8 last season and UT has been irrelevant for nearly all of these recruits life? Not to mention, we have signed some "great" classes in the past that produced little to no results so I will reserve judgement on the signing day national championships that UT loves to celebrate.

And? I suppose you believe in participation trophys too? Aren't you tired of being mediocre and just missing on recruits?

No but I mean come on we were lucky to be mentioned with these guys after a coaching change and going 0-8 in the SEC.

Next year I expect we will be getting several of these 5-star and 4-star guys.

He was in a uniquely tough situation:
- Coming off 4-8
- A lot of bad feeling at UT from the botched coaching search
- Almost no time to develop relationships because of ESD
- Lots of lost time while he (and other staff) was still coaching at Bama

My concern isn't that we didn't land the 5*s today. He'll win his share of those when he's in a more stable situation next year. My concern is that he spent too much time chasing 5*s and high 4*s who were unlikely to come here anyway (west coast guys) or who were clearly enjoying playing the game up to the end. And that's why we don't have a full class even after taking a few low 3*s. Wish he would've played it a little safer this year given the tough situation and tried to land a few more solid if not gamechanger recruits along the way.

But it is what it is. Dooley and Butch had good recruiting classes and we've seen no amount of good recruiting can make up for terrible coaching. So now Pruitt and staff have to prove themselves as coaches first to make recruiting easier going forward. Disappointing day to be sure. But even a good day today wouldn't have changed the job that awaits now.

Off the top of my head, I can't recall any. In order for UT to win we need to have either superior coaching or superior talent. One is still a question mark the other is answered. With Bama and UGA on our schedule every year and today's result there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel. Still a fan and love orange but it is just what it is. This class will set us back another year. I hope he can turn it around though, that would be awesome.

Think a little harder. Bama and Florida both spring to my mind. A&M was bad or a long time. That's just from our conference. Go a little further afield and you'll find Clemson, Miami and many more. Just about every school has been down for an extended period at one time or another.

Espn just ranked us # 24 a few minutes ago and we still have slots to fill. We came up from #60 when Pruitt was hired so everyone needs to chill. If we can finish in the top 25 it would be quite an accomplishment for a team which finished 4-8.

Chill? He got bent over by a number of coaches. He is so overrated as a recruiter it is sad. Dooley crushed his first class compared to this clown.

Yet another thread full of crybabies and irrational fans.

Exactly! Coach Pruitt and his staff have done an outstanding job considering the following:

1. Butch Jones not even winning one SEC game last year.
2. Players making negative comments about Jones' coaching abilities.
3. ESPN dragging us through the mud on the coaching hire process.
4. John Currie!

Coach Pruitt walked into the middle of a dumpster fire that has been burning since the firing of Coach Fulmer! This is where we are at as a program, period!

Good news is Coach Pruitt has got us to about a top 25 recruiting class. A small miracle from about two months ago! The best news of all is we now have an Athletic Director that at least knows what a championship program looks like and can mentor Coach Pruitt AND AND AND THE HASLAM CURSE HAS BEEN REMOVED!

Go VOLS!

He said we only have signed 19. And he’s right. I’m sure it’s been a long time since we had a class so small

We signed 21/22 depending on what Davis is gonna be.I though Butch signed 23 one year but haven't gotten to go look at past class numbers to see if we had any smaller ones.S smaller classes happen some years.U SC,Ala,Fla and Clemson all signed less than we did.

I agree that I wasn't expecting much better, was hoping we could pull one or two of those high priority players at the end.

With that being said getting your teeth kicked in after taking an arse kicking this year still sucks. Let them vent.

But also let them temper expectations, anyone expecting a top 10 class next year needs to be realistic, to 10 would be a grand slam, not likely to happen. We are not a top program, not a destination school anymore. It's going to take a couple of years of steady improvement to get this program back to respectability.

Who cares if we signed 19. We will sign a full class that will be ranked at least in the Top 10 next season.

Very true but today's results won't help us do much better than 4-8. I also highly doubt that since we signed great classes before and had bad results that signing an underwhelming class will lead to an SEC East championship. This isn't a knock on Pruitt I just think UT football is too far gone for him to save.

So who’s your next team?
