Excuses, excuses. The Japan trip was in 2000 and we had all 5 kids at home. We took them back up to the same mountain a few months later--that took a lot more coordination and planning!

I'm with you. My wife is a planner, super planner even. It would drive her nuts to just flip a coin and go.

Long many years ago couple buddies and I took a weeks leave and went to St. Louis to jump the first MAC plane going somewhere cool, preferably Germany. Ended up in Fl. still a good time, played hell getting back though.

...taken an unplanned trip/vacation on the spur of the moment?

I haven't, but I've thought about it several times.

Use to do it all the time first night stay has usually been in a dirtbag motel or in my car .... By second night could get decent

That was before marriage and kids however

When I was alot younger me and a couple of my friends would get in the car and just drive for the sake of driving. When I was stationed in Ft Worth we went to Laredo just to say we had been to Mexico, then turned around and came back. Of course gas was about $1.30 a gallon then too.

Went to a concert and campout/drunkfest a few weeks ago with an hour notice. Packed my camping gear on my bike, rode 45 minutes to a friend's house, threw everything a truck and hit the road. One of the best decisions of the year.

No because it costs too much money if you don't save it up when planning a trip months in advance.

Yea wife and I decided that we wanted to go somewhere on a particular week. We waited until the night before. Got plane tickets, cruise tickets, and off we went
