This drives me simply batty. Woolridge, Maymon, and Hall were open pretty much the entire night and the guards simply would not throw them the ball. At one point Maymon flashed to the high post, wide open, Tatum looked at him and then instead decided to try to go 1 on 3 at the front of the zone. Every time in film session that a post player flashes open and doesn't get the ball, the man that didn't make the pass should have to run. Suicides, shuttles, stadiums, I don't care just something to stop me having to see wide-open players getting frustrated after working so hard only to see someone jack up a 3 pointer (although the irony of it isn't lost on me when this happens to Woolridge :p )

They did that when this team was in Hawaii, and Maymon got like 30 points. I guess Golden and them want to be the main guys. Makes no sence. If they did throw it inside we would have more wins.:banghead2:

Everyone sees it. I don't know why Martin refuses to throw it inside.

Pearl's teams did it too. Buzz's teams as well. Maybe it's the type guys we recruited. I doubt Golden or McRae or Tatum did a lot of passing in high school. I still have hope for Richardson and Washpun.

However, all that being said, I would like to think Martin has had plenty of time to run some of that out of them by now.

This kid made my brain hurt on a few possessions tonight.

But he will never get significantly better only playing 10 minutes per game. Against Asheville he played much better than Golden for the minutes he got. I thought McRae would be a bigger factor this season, he is pretty much just out there. Nothing much to see on offense and usually a liability on D. Played 10 guys again. Played 11 against Asheville. ETSU played 7. Got to find a rotation that works better than what's going on. We need to find a team identity and soon with the SEC schedule coming up.

Bert B said the same thing. Of course, I don't ever remember UT feeding the post.

Shouldn't you be disproving the existence of a deity of an Abrahamic religion or something? Isn't taking shots at Martin a little too mortal for your intellectual archery?

Nope. When Martin proves that games like this are an aberration and not the norm with his teams, then I will stop taking shots at him. Until then, I will fire away.

Adam Sandler is either really good at acting retarded or really good at acting normal. I'll go with acting normal for now.

Yeah, but he is still only playing his 13th game at this level. In most BCS programs he wouldn't see the floor. I don't blame him for this. I honestly feel he is playing at the highest level he can for his experience and talent. It's not his fault there is no one on the bench to put in instead. (And I don't think it's Martin's fault either, just to get out in front of that)

Says a lot about things that in the last two games McBee has been on the floor at crunch time. As for Golden, if he would play the first 36 minutes the way he plays the last 4 we would be a much better team.

He left him enough talent to easily dismiss AP and ETSU.

Besides Tatum, all that talent could hardly get off the bench of a team that lost to Indianapolis, UNC-Charlotte, and got blasted in the first round of the NCAA Touney to the tune of 30+ by Michigan with the Bruce Pearl coaching them.

Correct...and, I will still say that is enough talent to easily put away AP and ETSU.

Keep blaming Martin's troubles (no defense, cannot get his players to buy into his offensive system, cannot get his players to get the ball to Maymon) on Pearl, though. That will work for a year.

Look at his record at Missouri State and you will have all the proof you need. Martin stepped up from a mid-major school to a BCS school, but wasn't given a BCS roster to coach. The fact that they haven't been ran out of any games yet considering who they have played tells me all I need to know about his coaching.

His record at Missouri State does not impress me; he took over a program in which Hinson had the same amount of success and did the same things, once one accounts for respective SOS between Hinson's teams and Martins.

Buzz Peterson was not 'run out of' many games prior to conference play in his first season; in fact, IIRC, he pulled some pretty good upsets.

Edit: the big upsets were after conference play had started (Syracuse). Anyway, point remains that Buzz was not run out of any gyms his first year. He had a better resume than Martin did prior to coming to UT, as well.
