Bought DC Universe, today. $7.99 a month with a free week. I think it was $74.99 a year. Main reason I got it, I love Young Justice and heard nothing but rave reviews so far for season 3. Titans look interesting, especially considering the '80s Wolfman and Perez run is my all-time favorite run in comics except maybe for Miller's run on Daredevil. Excited, already watched the first 3 episodes of S3 Young Justice. Good stuff as per usual

Doom Patrol looks awesome, Robotman looks spot on. Crazy Jane and Mr. Nobody are some of my favorites from this series, teases of Flex Mentallo and I'm almost sold on getting the subscription.

@The Dog, I'd like to hear your take on it if you've watched it.

Watched it last night after the UT game. I refused to get on VolNation or watch any highlight shows, last night, because I was irate and would have probably got banned. I'm over it now and I think the Vols bounce back.

I really liked the first episode of The Doom Patrol. Timothy Dalton and Brendon Frasier were great, which isn't a surprise for Dalton, but was (to me) for Frasier. In fact, best acting job, imo, for Frasier since "School Days". I'm actually kind of familiar with the Doom Patrol from the comics. I thought all the acting was good. Love the actresses that played Rita and Jane. The chemistry with Rita and Larry was very good and Cliff and Jane's were even better, imo. These are very flawed characters that are relatable (minus the powers) and likeable. The actor that narrated and plays the big bad, Mr. Nobody killed it. Love the breaking the 4th walk stuff like, "the critics are going to hate this show". Lot better than the Titans' pilot and early episodes, although Titans grew on me in the later episodes. If the rest of the season is half as good as the 1st episode then it will probably be better than the Titans and comparable to Young Justice and I think YJ season 3 is better than any animated and/or live-action, comic-based show I have ever seen.

I will probably go ahead and fork over the $75 for a year of the DC Universe, next month and that's saying something for my cheap a$$. I'm really hope the Stargirl show nails it, too. Big fan of the JSA. Plus Swamp Thing, done right, has mad potential. Gotta love the Harley Quinn animated show if it's done like the Batman Animated Series, also. But, my favorite feature on DC Universe is all the comics I can download and read.

I appreciate your opinion, I'll have to get DCU.

We have similar tastes, I too am a huge fan of Swamp Thing and am looking forward to that one as well. Alec and Abby is the best love story in modern literature IMO and if it's done right will be an awesome show too.

The comic access on DCU is a plus for me as well since most of my disposable income has been diverted from books since the birth of my daughter. Those newer issues of Doom Patrol look pretty good and I'll be checking those out when I have access.

And yes, I too had to take a step back after the KY game to keep myself from performing any regrettable actions.

Cheers buddy!

And also where Cyborg belongs but DC/WB just had to shoehorn him into Justice League instead of GL, GA, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter.

Should've switched beast boy and cyborg. Though I haven't watched Titans so I don't know if they worked a BB/Raven relationship. Although if I remember correctly Cyborg and Raven had a thing at one point.

Looks like they are trying to set up a Beast Boy/Raven relationship in the Titans show. I'm not sure about a Cyborg/Raven relationship in the comic, but in The New Teen Titans comic from the early '80's, Kid Flash (ginger Wally West) and Raven were an item for a couple of years.

I’ve still yet to watch Justice League and the Flash’s terrible costume design is one of many reasons why. Not sure about Miler’s portrayal of Barry was quite accurate from the trailers either.

Having said that, I trust Grant Morrison immensely. He knows how to take the wacky SciFi concepts of the Silver Age and put modern twist to them. Generally I don’t think his stories translate to film very well but this is still a step in the right direction.

Step one is get rid of that stupid armor though.

James Gunn's Suicide Squad Is a Reboot Called The Suicide Squad - IGN

So Suicide Squad 2 is actually a complete reboot and will be called The Suicide Squad.

So basically I guess the DCEU itself is doing a soft reboot overall. They're keeping the parts that work (WW, Aquaman, etc.) but moving forward pretty much ignoring the previous movies. In the long run it will probably work out great for them, but man overall a pretty big swing and a miss on the first try.

Big swing and a miss.
But how many batman & supes actors/movies have come before now?
Green Lantern?

They'll be okay.

Hopefully, they get up to close to the same quality of output as the MCU.

They've shown with WW & Aquaman that they can make good movies. Heck, I even enjoyed Justice League, Suicide Squad, BvS, but they definitely had major flaws.

Apparently this shared cinematic universe is a lot harder to pull off that it should be. Even Disney is struggling with getting Star Wars expansion beyond a sequel trilogy. Universal quickly abandoned their monster based Dark Universes.

Honestly, who knows if Marvel would have even pulled it off without Feige.

For those that didn't subscribe to the DC Universe service.

Titans: The Complete First Season will be released on Blu-ray on July 16, 2019.

I still subscribe, monthly. Young Justice waa good, but not as good as season 1, imo. But, the 2nd season of The Titans is so much better than the first. Deathstroke is the main villian and even the flashbacks with Aqualad are cool. Well, for a comic nerd like me. Check it out, not quite Doom Patrol good, but more fun, action-wise and pulls the whole ol' 80s Titans comic book thing that I grew up on, off, into a kick-ass TV show that I've dreamed of since I was a 9 year kid.

The Titans season 2 just keeps getting better and better. Episode 6, "Conner" introduces Superboy and Krypto. Probably, the best show of this season and that's saying something, imo

Nobody watching Titans ? Man, Esai Morales has portrayed Deathstroke as a complete bad-ass, like he is in the comics. Titans also hired Daredevil's fight choreographer/expert/whatever and the fight scenes are greatly improved, especially Deathstroke's complete destruction of Wonder Girl in the latest episode. Deathstroke followed that up with a slightly more competitive, but still total domination of Dick/Robin. If u were turned off by the first season, give it another chance, almost like a totally new show that is finally doing these characters and their rich comic history , some justice

Interesting!

DC Universe's Stargirl to also air on The CW

stargirl-costume-dc-universe.png

The CW has reached a joint custody arrangement for Stargirl, as the exclusive linear home for the upcoming DC Universe series.

Specifically, The CW will broadcast each episode of the live-action superhero series the day after it debuts on the streaming service. Additionally, every Stargirl episode will be available to stream on The CW’s free digital platforms, following its broadcast on the network, throughout the season.

This marks the latest unique arrangement for a DC Universe property.
Doom Patrol was renewed for a Season 2 that will simultaneously stream in DCU as well as the upcoming HBO Max service. (The recently ordered Titans Season 3, however, will remain a DC Universe exclusive.)

Stargirl is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2020, with new episodes releasing weekly a la Titans and Doom Patrol.

Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (played by Brec Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in what is described as “an unpredictable series.”

Among other castings, Amy Smart (Felicity) will play Barbara Whitmore, who — now that teenage Courtney is older — is jumping back into the workforce and striving to be the best mother and provider she can be to her daughter, her new husband (Luke Wilson), and her new stepson (Trae Romano).
Additionally, English actor Neil Jackson (Absentia, Sleepy Hollow) and newcomer Hunter Sansone will each play “undisclosed” DC characters.

The Stargirl character was created by Geoff Johns in 1999, lovingly inspired by his late sister who was killed in a 1996 plane explosion. Johns will serve as showrunner on the series and exec-produce alongside co-showrunner Melissa Carter (Queen Sugar), Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

I'm a huge fan of James Robinson's run on the Starman comics. He took the son of the original Justice Society, Starman (Ted Knight), Jack Knight and made him a reluctant hero. Which doesn't have a lot to do with this Stargirl seies, apparently, other than SG using the cosmic staff that Jack gave Courtney in the comics when he decided to retire and raise his kid. Still, since I do enjoy DC Universe, I will watch.

Btw, anybody seen the Harley Quinn animated show, yet? Only 2 episodes, so far, but hilarious, imo. Kinda like a raunchier "Archer". I recommend it, Kelly Cucou does a great job voicing Harley and I love her friendship and potential love interest with whoever is voicing Poison Ivy. Great chemistry, even if they are animated

James Robinson’s Starman is one of the best self contained superhero series ever. It would make a great series.

Jack Knight was the original hipster LOL
