I been around for a long time and this may get deleted, but screw Nico being such a good guy. His and his whole family are just out for some money. They never gave a hoot about Tennessee or the fans and that makes me sick. Guarantor crapnfor years from everyone. Including me. The guy is all vol dispite how he was treated. This whole thing pisses me off.

I’m very sick so please excuse grammar.

Very few of these kids "give a hoot about Tennessee or the fans". We are rooting for a uniform and the name Tennessee. We are rooting for a historical program that does not exist anymore, but that we grew up with very fond memories of...and that is okay as long as you realize many (most?) of the kids wearing the uniforms are likely here for money. Most of these kids are not loyal to the school or state. If they have other options to play at other big time schools, then it is likely we are paying more to get them to come from out of state to here.

It is likely not that they are here because they believe they are going to get some superior coaching or development or that they love the roar of the fans here better.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Seems like this is an”adults” problem. Whether it was financial or football specific. Still, it was his choice not to show up for practice. He has to own that one.

Mac has said walking thru the T has been a life long dream of his. I would go with him as soon as possible. He wants to be here.

He's an entitled, lowlife ingrate from a family of entitled, lowlife ingrates.
We paid this kid while he was still in high school, from what I am told.
We took the NCAA to court when they were hellbent on destroying our football program and declaring him ineligible - and won.
We paid his sorry backside $2M to ride the pine while Joe Milton played QB.
We paid him for a lackluste 2024 season (on his part) and he still had the unmitigated gall to ask for a pay raise. He participated in spring practice as QB1, probably having already made the decision to hit the portal, and denying one of our other QBs from getting first team reps.
And then bolts before the Orange & White game, leaving us in a really tough spot.
No, he's not a good kid. He is toxic.

And he's not a kid. He's a 20 year old legal adult and was getting paid 2 million a year. I dont care who his daddy is. I hold Nico and Nico alone responsible!

College football fans have some wildly unrealistic expectations about player loyalty these days.

The truth is, college athletes today are professionals — just like the rest of us. They’re being paid (through NIL, stipends, and scholarships) to do a job. And just like the rest of us, they’re allowed to make career decisions based on what’s best for them — not what makes fans feel good inside.

For all we know, a lot of them hate aspects of their “job” just like you. Long hours. Pressure. Unreasonable bosses. Sacrificed time with family. Injuries. Stress.

And let’s be real: Most of us would leave our jobs tomorrow if someone else offered better pay, better conditions, or a better shot at our dreams.

Yet we expect 19-year-olds — who have an extremely short window to maximize their career — to be “monogamously loyal” to a university?

It’s not 1985 anymore. Loyalty is great when it’s mutual — but business decisions are not betrayal. They’re survival.

If you wouldn’t stay at your job out of “loyalty” while getting underpaid and underappreciated, maybe cut these athletes some slack too.

I've lost some respect for the way he has continued to let things happen and the narrative. He's now throwing his teammates under the bus demanding more help. And if anything has been put out as lie, he hasn't responded to it. Dude needs to man up and stop making himself the most disliked player in the sport right now.

I’m annoyed that I bought his crappy apparel, which wasn’t even the right shade of orange. My family also bought numerous leis because my wife’s family is from Hawaii.

Nico is not a leader. Until he's able to step out of daddy's shadow, stand on his own and make his own decisions (good or bad) he stands little chance of ever being the leader that the QB position requires.
Exactly, he talks the talk but it only resonates in his brain.
At this point he might as well be selling jerseys out of the trunk of his car.
The NFL will eat him up because of this and he will not make it through the interviews.
He and his dad have made a huge mistake a costly one down the road.
I am sure CJH gave him an honest evaluation of his skill set and future.
His dad did not agree and that is the real reason he was shopping his son around.

NICO & DAD were running from Reality and trying to get as much $$$$$ before it came to light.

Sometimes we invest in a bad investment. Nico did not pan out. QBs need brains to go with the talent. The also need the ability to lead.

After about another week of this, can we please stop making Nico threads? I understand that people heal trauma wounds at different speeds, but come on guys… there’s a new thread every hour. Can’t we all just move on? asking for a friend
I agree with you 100%. However, I have started trying to just "pass over" topics that the title implies it's gonna be about this kid/adult.

Some of us ( I emphasize us) take longer to "grow up" than others. I admit to myself at my advanced age (over 80) looking back parental influence played a huge part in my life. The effects? Well that's another story.

OP, if you are referring to JG, I think the tipping point for a lot of fans was whenever he went rogue vs Alabama on that goal line play. It wasn’t anything to do with his toughness or him wanting to win for Tennessee. He genuinely seemed like he wanted to be here and most fans wanted to love him. Just the fact he went off script and put his team in a bad situation on the field set a lot of people off. What Nico has done though is infinitely worse and I would be shocked if he ever stepped foot in Knoxville again.

His uncle has hit the media with some real sound bite gems. Lockhart almost sounds *(racially motivated, biased), when the main focus of his comments are not football related, but rather ethno-centric. It seems like everything to do with Nico's fam is about something other than football. Dad's ate up with greed. Uncles ate up with social justice and *. Also seems like there are quite a few ppl in that fam with their hands out and "doing the least" with regard to value in the workforce (for even Nico, their own fam), despite being a hard-nosed, proud family...

Agreed. He is 20 years old! Older than allot of soldiers risking life and limb for this country without the millions attached! Good bye!

PS HAPPY EASTER! ;)
