Which assistant coach had the Heart to Heart with DD? Too cheap to subscribe to Knoxville's finest news paper!

Ask a serious question, get out-of-work comedians responses.

Jollette did.

She is the one I know least about... Now I wish I knew more about her... I have given Pat all of the credit for corralling the alpha-players... maybe it was Jollette who kept them in a good frame of mind, all along. Even inPat's days??... Whatever prompted the talk... Way to go, Jollette. It worked.

Don't worry....I have complete confidence in Holly Dooley's ability to put her back on the wrong track before tomorrow's game.

Jolette never worked for Pat. Holly hired her, along with Kyra Elzy. Holly knew her through Vivian Stringer, who coached her in college (Iowa) and later hired her as an asst coach (Rutgers). You should google her - she has an interesting resume.

Which coach do you think is expendable on the staff? Clearly probably not Law at this point.

Gee, I wonder why we have a bad offense. Law worked for Stringer at Rutgers, who always had great defenses and TERRIBLE offenses--worse than ours, which is not easy. Does anyone remember the national championship game we played against Rutgers? It had to have been one of the ugliest title games in the history of the tournament--two teams that couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. We won, but I think the game set back women's basketball about a decade. Elzy is very well spoken and impressive--but she was a bad offensive player when she was a Vol. We got nobody that knows much about that side of the game. I'm happy Law got through to DD, who seemed to play most of the year with her head in her shorts. It should take six weeks to have a sit down and say, hey, stop all your pouting and go play basketball. But better late than never, I guess.

I just read this NS report about the dinner with Law. In the world of social science, an important axiom is that "correlation does not show causation." That is, just because two events occur in close proximity, it does not necessarily mean that one caused the other. If a dog was barking the morning your car did not start, that does not mean the dog's bark was the reason for your auto problems.

If you recall, earlier in the season, Diamond put together a run of two or three decent games after she had a heart to heart with her dad, who told her "to not put too much pressure on herself" and those magic words unleashed her abilities until, well they didn't and then she lost her starting role. Now, she has had a good run of games after the heart to heart with Law; I would be bet the improved performances had more to do a host of other factors-- some good practices; favorable match-ups, getting more sleep at night, finally figuring out her role, and a myriad other possible influences.

Maybe the "dinner talk" contributed something to the turnout as did maybe 20 other small tips DD might have gotten from coaches (including CHW) during practices and film reviews.

Is it just me or does anybody else find this to be one of the funniest posts on here in a long time? :eek:lol:

Shock of shock..gule and I are immediately on the same page,

Dean first
Holly second
Kyra and jollette have yet to make my rank.

Dean: Our most glaring weakness is at post. We have a 6'6" player who played like a 5'10'er until it her type of environment showed up.

Holly: If it ain't obvious, it ain't gonna be...

I was more f'ing with Bearcat than truly considering such a far-fetch.... And he jumped at the opportunity... No my words didn't prompt that talk. The dog didn't cause my car to not start... But it is cool to consider the timing and the event (Correlation = causation)... I will say tho, if it was HW and practices, it would be much more consistent than being abe to tie the two very distinguishable "change in DD" to particular talks... im just saying..

Okay just to clear up any ambiguity; the News Sentinel story was about how Joletta Law decided she needed to make a kind of intervention with DD and decided to have a heart to heart talk with her. The story in no way mentioned you and hence my post was not referring to you in any possible sense. I was questioning whether Law's talk is the factor responsible for DD's improved play. As to your personal fantasy of exerting an effect on the LVs through your posts on this forum, hey who am I to rain on your parade? If that delusion makes you happy, more power to you.
