Heisman Race

I understand the argument that others should be considered. I also understand that you guys are rooting against Tebow because he's a rival and because you are sick of him.

But saying he shouldn't be considered or would not be worthy of it is just stupid.

who should have? not arguing, just don't remember who else was up for it
Of the 4 guys invited to the final ceremony, Grossman was probably the best of the group. Can't remember how Harrington's numbers were.

Personally, I like Tebow and I don't think he deserves the award.

He is not worthy this season. He wins based upon the D. Keenum and McCoy are different in that regard.

Agreed. I also like Tebow a lot as a college player (really, I do), but he's had a fairly ho-hum season. I still credit that to Harvin's absence.

Tebow is a candidate because he, more than any other player in the country, accounts for and represents the success of a 9-0 team.

when florida's offence is more diverse and efficent without tebow next season you're going to disagree with this comment. florida's obsession with giving tebow the ball inside the 20 this year has absolutly crippled their red zone offence.

Keenum and spiller have been as good as any others in the country.

true.
spiller was obviously hurting yesterday and still ran for well over 100 yards. pretty impressive showing.

with a schedule consisting of troy, charleston southern and FIU i could put up heisman numbers.

Not to mention UGA, UK and Vandy... oh and don't forget FSU... Yeah.. real championship caliber schedule they have there.

good point. lawgator can run for 100 yards backwards against them, doesn't sound like the type of team a championship contender should be playing.

ya, we should have never scheduled those in-conference opponents or state-rival. oh wait... :pepper:
he wasn't arguing that you shouldn't have played them. He was arguing that strength of schedule isn't a differentiator in this race, or that it shouldn't be.

trade tebow and any other heisman contender straight up. Tebows new team becomes instantly better, and uf instantly worse.

ie- if tebow were to suit up for bama and ingram for florida, who ya got? florida becomes more one-dimensional and bama has a dual threat qb + julio jones. I can't think of a trade-off closer than that. mccoy? no.

if the award is for the best player in college football, it's a no brainer.

AL doesn't get better by adding Tebow. Their running attack remains the same, as does the passing game.

Clearly, UF gets worse losing Tebow but that's about UF's offensive inability more than anything else. Swap QB's with TX and they fall off the world. Swap with Houston, they fall off the world.

2 words then a question.

Charles Woodson.

Q. How did he win the hypeman?
A. Think American Idol

Quoted for Truth...

That's the reason i'm sure that Touchdown jimmy WON'T win it -- NBC has notre dame games and ESPN won't hype NBC contracted team..

now where have I heard that story before? Oh yeah, 11 years ago....

oh well, at least jimmy gets the shaft this time. I HATE him.

Are you seriously trying to tell us Ingram means less to Bama success than Tebow does to Florida's?

There has been a couple of times this season where I absolutely believed the Florida O would benefit from have a better passer under center.

He might be right about this. Ingram can be replaced by Richardson. Tebow cannot be replaced at UF, period. They don't have anyone who can do what he does. They need him to do what he does because they have very limited options and their scat backs can't do what they need.

That doesn't change the fact that most Heisman candidates' teams would get the short end of the stick by having a 4 yards and a cloud of dust QB.

I have been pretty impressed with the young QB Florida has. I absolutely believe that if he were to be put under center in an offense other than the option the team could still win and compete in a similar way to what they do now. Their wr's aren't terrible, they are just young and need the consistent reps in game situations, something that is hard to come by in the current Florida offense under Tebow.

But how does an option team adjust to a pro style gig that quickly?

Brantley might be a monster and he might suck. Who knows.

Fair enough.

If Brantley is used in a similar way to Tebow he will most likely suck or stay injured. The offense will have to change drastically that is for sure.

We do know that they are effective enough today with Tebow at the helm. That said, their D is the reason they're winning. It ain't Tebow. He singlehandedly tried to lose the MSU game.

Yep. He's actually regressed as a passer this year.

He's important to Florida, but he'd be nothing more than a big, physical, insignificant quarterback at a lot of schools.

He's not the most valuable player in college football...not even close.
