Heisman Trophies and UT

That was practically handed to him before the season started. Individual awards in college football have to got to be some fo the worst awards in sports.
I don't disagree with you, but it doesn't mean he's a heckuva LB.

Penn State's defensive stats:

Pass: Ranked 47th in D-IA (191.2ypg)
Rush: Ranked 10th in D-IA (87.8ypg)
Score: Ranked 11th in D-IA (14.8ppg)
Total: Ranked 16th in D-IA (279.0ypg)

A very respectable defense.

How much better will that be?

I have no clue, obviously it depends on the young guys and the guys that got all the experience this year. McNeil is going to be a great anchor to build a line around though, that's all I know.

Arian just didn't step it up this year. I was one of the people who thought he'd have a big season. I think he can still be a good back for us, but Coker has definitely impressed me more this year. Next year could be totally different though.

there's no substitute for speed.

thats seems to be the missing intangible for UT running backs the last few years.

how long has it been since UT had a back who could break off a long TD run. Not since Travis Stephens in 01.

Well, I agree with you as well. I was not taking away from him being a good lb. But these college awards are heavily slanted. Of course I am generalizing, but it is the way I feel about it.

There's a reason I gave this thread a one star ranking. :boredom:

I'm liable to kill somebody next time I hear a Tennessee fan talk about the Heisman...

I've never seen a fanbase so besmirched by a meaningless ocurrance between regular season and bowl season...

To most Tennessee fans I've seen, it's just a meaningless trophy that has been continually talked about for 9 years.

If Cedric Houston got into the open field, he was gone.

Don't thye have another stud LB as well? Seems like I heard a few guys say something like, "Yeah, PP is good, but this other LB..."

Posluszny was the best, but Dan Conner was damn good. Kind of like tOSU last season with Hawk, Carpenter, and Schlegel.

yeah, #30 if memory serves...PSU has some good LB's and overall are pretty stout on defense.

offensively though, they've struggled. Morelli has not developed like they hoped/thought he would. he's got a strong arm, but accuracy and decision making has, well, been lacking this season.

3 runner-ups, Johnny Majors, Heath Shuler, and Peyton Manning. Manning should have won it. You can thank the sportswriters for their Big 10 bias for that one.

Hank Lauricella was also a runner up.
