15 years ago Nascar was my number one sport with football a distant two. Now the roles are completely reversed. I was a huge Earnhardt fan and after his death it hasn't been the same. Pulled for Rusty a while and still pull for Martin but I don't see him staying much longer. I'm old school and cant stand the punks like Busch and most of the new guys. I start out every year watching but by mid season I have lost interest. Nascar is just no fun without someone to pull for or if your guy never wins:). The guys that still follow Nascar pretty close, who would you say is the most old school guy on the track that is competitive?

I have a driver and I have really cared less and less as the years have gone on, it's a shadow of what they had going 10 years ago.

That's the truth, I just hate to give up on it. I used to go the Daytona 500 and Talladega every year. The sport has changed so much.

I can remember watching guys like Dale Sr, Bill Elliott, and Neil Bonnett going at it at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock GA and they would hang out and have a beer afterward. I used to help out a friend that drove at Highland Rim and the Nashville fairgrounds and remember having beers after the races with guys like Bobby Hamilton Sr, Darrell Waltrip, and Sterling Marlin. I know it will never be like that again with the publicity now and crazy fans but it just seems that its all about money now. It used to be a kid that knew about cars could build something from the junk yard and be competitive enough at the local level to work his way up. Not now, if you don't have lots of money to play with you don't have a chance in racing. It would be nice to see a kid that came up working on his own stuff and appreciates where he is and remembers where he came from. That may be too much to ask.

I believe those days are gone in anything competitive. Just too much money.

Yeah, good for nostalgia's sake, but the good old days of NASCAR are gone.

I still watch in and out, nowhere near as much as I did even 3 or 4 years ago, but they tried so hard to fix something that wasn't broken, that they killed it for me, for the most part.

I'm a Kenseth fan, just have been for years for no particular reason. I also like Kasey and the Busch brothers, they are fun to watch.

It sounds like you would make a good Tony Stewart fan. He appeals to the old school fans and still very competitive, perfect match.

Yeah, I kinda like Tony. He comes off a little whiney sometimes but owning your own team will make you grow up fast. I pull for Carl Edwards some and I really like Steve Wallace in the Nationwide series. I also cant wait till Mark's boy Matt gets old enough to run in the Nationwide series. I think he will be fun to watch.

Also, love the avatar. We got a beverage store in the boro now that keeps Yazoo on tap. You buy a jug and then take the jug back for refills.

It was all Stewart for me till Joe Gibbs swithed to Toyota. I'm not pulling for a damn Toyota. I always liked the jack daniels car, so started pulling Clint bowyer. Then Stewart Got his own team and whiched back into a chevy. He always hated driving a Toyota anyway. So now I pull for Stewart and bowyer.

Bowyer's not big time yet but, his coming around.

I don't believe Matt Martin will be racing unless he changes his mind. He told his father he didn't want to race anymore. If I'm not mistaken, that's one of the reasons Mark came back full time instead of retiring when he said he was after leaving Roush. Mark was going to focus on Matt's racing before that.

My driver is Juan Pablo Montoya.

The only two I have ever pulled for were Sterling and Earnhardt.

Yeah, I have to support the local brewery. I usually drink lager beer but their pale ale is pretty good.

Agree completely! Smoke would be a great choice. Very competitive and has that old school mentality.

I've been a ford fan from birth or whenever I first saw bigfoot, I was a rusty fan for most of my fandom and my current favorite is Kenseth.

If I were to choose one now it would probably be Kyle Busch.

I've been a Mark Martin fan since the late 90's, but when he announced his retirement a few years back I started pulling for Carl Edwards. I still mainly cheer for Mark since he decided not to retire then, but when he does retire Carl will be my guy.

But if you want an old school type driver that can still compete, I would go with Stewart.

Personally, I'm old fashioned. Been using the 905R for quite some time...

I'm a little surprised at the amount of Kenseth fans on here.

I was thinking the same thing actually. No disrespect to any of his fans, but he is a driver you don't really think of having a huge amount of fans. He should though, I like him.
