Very poignant. What a fine young man his parents raised. I haven't really watched much NFL since Peyton retired, just no one to cheer for and follow, but I know who I'll be watching in the future! Good luck HH and thank you for what you've done in and for Tennessee. You touched a lot of hearts and set such a great example.

Hendon, we, as Big Orange fans, are profoundly honored to have had a person and player of your caliber lead our lads into battle and resurrect this program during the last two years. You have established an exceedingly high standard, on and off the field, for your successors.

Great read from a great Vol....His type doesn't come around very often.

His name will be mentioned along with the Great Vols for years to come.

Hendon is on my mount Rushmore of UT QB's along with Peyton, Dobbs and Shuler. Yeah Tee got us a natty but I mean there's just 4 spots and Hendons story is just so much better.

IT'S ALMOST LIKE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE PERFECT PLAYER, PERFECT ROLE MODEL, PERFECT TEAMMATE, WALKING EPITOMY OF WHAT A HEISMAN SHOULD BE....
ALAS HE SHOULDA PAINTED OBCENITIES ON HIS HANDS AND LOST TO THE SAME TEAM TWICE IF HE WANTED THAT HONOR!
ONE OF THE GREATEST TO WEAR ORANGE.....EVER

Who is cutting onions in here?

Geez…I am not sure I teared up as much reading an article than I just did reading that article.

What a moving, emotional and uplifting article.

I just feel HH will go down as one of our greats.

Not surprising, but I’m glad he spent a lot of time talking about the Alabama game. That was a MASSIVE victory.

Let's win coach.
This story highlights the difference in makeup of Heupel comapred to Johnny Majors and Phil Fulmer. Both all-time great coaches, but weren't geared to go for the kill. Heupel is the opposite of conservative in his decisions.
He has more faith in his players than stats and sabermetrics.
He makes the players believe in him and each other.

And Thank You for giving me the best pleasure of watching VOL football since the 98 season!!!! I admire you for never giving up and playing your heart out to win......Even in the SC game. I honestly felt like you were the only player still playing to win in that game. Best of luck in your future and I hope to see you playing on Sundays if that is where God takes you.

Amazing young man with a rare mixture of talent, dedication and humility. We have been so fortunate to watch his progression and I doubt his injury will hold back his aspirations. He is built to overcome obstacles. Godspeed on your journey HH5!

This is just a cool story, at least to me. My family and I were in Charlotte for the Hornets and Thunder game last night. James Jordan (Mike's brother) usually pics a random family and moves them to seats about 5 rows up from the Hornets bench. We were lucky enough to be that family. As a result, we were sitting right in front of Hendon's Aunt. We were wearing Vols gear so we got to chat with her for a little. Her husband works for the Hornets organization too. Also ran into a TON of Vols fans last night.

Exactly and never stop letting God be your leader.

Loved the piece. It was a great read. Also, I don't think there is a better backup QB in the country. I felt that when Joe said "we are gonna get that bowl win for you Hook"
Damn. That hit man. I am pulling for these VOLS. I absolutely love this team.
