Here’s who I think the Vols get in the SEC 2024 schedule.

I hope so. They need to know early on that they’re not running anything.
I’m sure they will want the SEC office and conference title game moved to Dallas.
it will be fun watching them try to take away Bama’s Top Dog status. Both arrogant jerk fan bases Comparing D size.

They can’t even win the damn Big 12. To put it in terms those boys might understand…

they’re all hat, no cattle.

TX gonna have a steep learning curve on not being able to control the league, it appears. They are not the big fish in a small pond anymore. Just another big fish among other big fish.

Expecting Hoover to screw over the vols in someway. Hopefully will keep home game against the gators and tide in 24.

Georgia having to play Bama, Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida....dang.

I think Sankey is gonna change everybody's mind about a 9 game schedule real quick. He is creating some serious match ups to tick people off AND to show how many marquee match ups this league can produce. Its worth paying for. And the teams will miss their built in 3 opponents.

Best Guess for Tennessee:
Alabama
UGA
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Ole Miss
Auburn

If we stay with same scheduling, I'd say Vandy is our 1 permanent rival...that leaves 2025 with
Florida
Mizzou
Vandy
Miss St
Texas
Texas A&M
LSU
Arkansas

That’s why I disagree when people say that Sankey follows Bama and Saban’s orders. He is too powerful in the overall landscape of sports to be tied to a particular powerhouse. Every interview I heard from him during the Spring meetings suggested that he wanted 9 games, and that he was pissed that the votes weren’t there. I think you’re right, this is his way of saying “you want 8?” Here you go. Enjoy it .

Well, Saban apparently nullified the 3-6 format that he had formerly approved when he learned that his 3 permanents would be Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU.

So, I’d expect his 8 for 2024 to be announced as:
Vandy
Kentucky
Missouri
SCarolina
MSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Auburn
It’s been announced they will Travel to Oklahoma for 24

He wants 9 for the TV deal negotiations and likely prioritizing quality match ups this year to also take to the table to promote a new TV deal. Simply he's creating a schedule in 2024 to prove how much viewership the SEC can bring in and use as leverage with the networks.

That’s a good point as well.

It would really suck if we get Texas, and Manning ends up beating us. I hate knowing he went there

Sounds like we are getting OU. Not Texas. If we do get Florida, Bama, UGA and OU. Vandy. That’s 5. Other three need to be Kentucky/Miss State level.

Hint:

The schedule will be compiled after they rank the teams. They take the overall winning percentage since 2012 to determine the top 8 teams and the bottom 8 teams. Each school will play 4 of the top 8 and 4 of the bottom 8. Rivalries will be maintained so expect Bama and Vandy to certainly be on UT schedule. Lot of speculation that Florida and Georgia remain on the schedule also.
