Here's some free advice

My best friend went to NYU for law school and he didn't need a car. I leased it from him, but by law in AZ I had to be on title to get insured on it, so he sold me the car for $1. I drove it for 3 years, making monthly lease payments and gave it back to him for $1.

It's a shame some feel they don't have people they can trust.

He wanted my money so he could pay the attorney fees to file bankruptcy on his creditors, myself included. I said ' you got to be kidding right?'

And his response was 'well no. I don't have the money for it right now.'

Yeah.....probably wasn't getting that grand back. I need to borrow money so I can pay off legal fees to fight against debt that I cannot pay back? Classic..

Matthew 5:42
Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

Psalm 112:5
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice.

But then on the other hand...

Leviticus 25:35-37
If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you. You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.

Exodus 22: 25-27
If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him. If ever you take your neighbor's cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down, for that is his only covering, and it is his cloak for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

Deuteronomy 15: 8-10
But you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.

So heck if I know about what the Bible wants concerning lending. Sounds like we are supposed to be suckers, Lord forgive me.

The only people that cosign are saints, family members and dumbasses. And usually co-signers fall into at least two of those categories if not all three.

Cosigned on a small personal loan for my then gf who was horrible with money. She needed $300 and the credit union gave out no less than $500. After they handed her the money I made her walk up to the counter and make an immediate $200 payment on the loan. :) I proceeded to stay on top of the payments like a hungry woman eating beast. Probably didn't hurt that I told her that I know where she lived, I had her apartment keys and I wouldn't hesitate to take my money back in some way shape or form if she missed a payment. Trust me when I say I had that on lock down. Little did she know she was helping to boost my credit score even higher. :good!:

Interesting. The old law certainly doesn't seem to favor profiting from lending.

Nice avy. I'm a trout fisherman myself. Where do you fish?
