Here's what most of you don't understand....

We NEED schollies for next year. It will be Kiffin's first class and he needs the room to sell the program. We didn't have a whole lot to give out this time so we just focused on getting more athletic and getting faster, which we accomplished.

Definitely agree with this... it's just hard to swallow the fact that we are so desperately thin at DT and still lost Shackleford, couldn't qualify/sign Hollins, and did not pick up any signing day surprises at the position. That's my only real complaint. It's certainly an athletic/fast class.

You have no clue and will be put on ignore. Have a nice day. :hi:

Lets just all agree with one another and have a great big love fest here.

Just answer me a couple of questions and then place me on ignore.

If Kiffin can't secure all that top talent he needs to run his system next year or the next, do you think he will be regretting not taking some of these guys that could possibly help him with a little modification to his system?

If he does not get the top talent that he needs for his system next year and he has to start re-thinking his system and rebuild it again, how long do we give him?

Three years, four, five years?

I'm just asking here. I mean everyone is counting on those eggs in that one basket.

damn this sucks. I hate GA and AL. For anyone that has ever lived in either state they know what I am talking about.

I do not mind losing recruits but not to these A@@ schools.

Honestly, how can you say that we lost recruits to either school? We stole recruits from both schools and only lost out on guys that we weren't expected to get. The only guy that we "lost" to UF was Edwin Hebert. Stealing Teague and Richardson from CUM should be reason for any Vol fan to celebrate. I also don't think people are understanding the importance of D. Myles. Our secondary will be stellar for years to come. We will only need to pick up depth in the secondary and will be able to focus on DLs and offensive recruits next year. I will agree that Auburn was able to steal a couple from us but I'm doubting how committed they or our staff were to begin with. I really think Oku was committed to Drayton.

Overall, IMO this class was a success but not quite as much of a success as all the late visitors gave me hope it would be.

All the whining that is going on is just plain asinine and stupid. I would have liked to seen the previous staff come in under the same situation and do what this one accomplished in so little time. Also, most of you don't realize that 4 of our coaches weren't actively recruiting players in college for any other program. Lane, Monte, Coach O, and James Cregg were all in the NFL. For them to do what they did without having the knowledge of two years of relationships is simply remarkable. I can't wait until next year when we have a Top 5 class and watching most of you eat crow that are complaining right now. They have also already offered at least 80 Juniors for next year while trying to recruit the last part of this year's class. Also, we took some players that we shouldn't of and lost some that we would have liked to see stay and this happens every year so get over it. I enjoyed watching this staff do what they did this year and I don't think they will disappoint anyone next year.

Absolutely, I hope Kiffin saves this year's unused scholarships and doesn't panic like Fulmer did last year and waste them on inferior players who will never contribute. I'm pleased overall.

Give it a rest. Silent commits, surprises, building fences, only going after top notch talent, needing scholarships, no time, blah, blah, blah.

Even if what you say is correct he would have to sign kids that are ready to play the day they sign next year.

We needed players now.

I was under the impression that the kids that signed with us are players. Your continual insistence on Kiffin's recruiting failure shows exactly how little you know about recruiting.

What makes it all better is that in a month or two we will be talking about these very same guys, showing their ability in workouts, practice, and the O&W game.

Isn't there an NCAA rule about how many you can take a year regardless of how many you have to offer?

I'm ready and roaring for next season. Hey, don't forget to get Jaquez's template ready. I will probably start next year's commitment thread next month sometime, or I may wait until the start of summer, depending on number of commits.

Nice post g8terh8ter_eric!! While I personally wish we had done better than we did with recruits. I do think the Coaching staff did a great job with the little time that they had. Also If I am not mistaken this class is ranked higher than last years class so there is already an improvement there. If Kiffin can turn the team around and get more time we will see a much better recruiting class next year.

Ok you want to get into a debate about recruiting then fine. You think you know what your talking about because it makes sense in your own mind. There is nothing about recruiting that makes sense and if you had ever been through the process you would understand that. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I have been through it as a player and a father.

I understand that each successive class is directly related to and predicated on the previous class. Every class is a building block that requires some success from the previous classes. We had one good class between two medicore classes within the past three years. Its a fact that an incoming class will not contribute as whole to the success of a team until the third year. This class will be considered somewhere in the middle based on talent.

This football team will be made up of one good class, one decent class and two very medicore classes.

Next years team will be made up of one good class, one decent class, one medicore class and hopefully one very good class.

Of course coaching them "up" if you will is gonna be a huge factor. But if the talent is not there its just not there. We are on the tale end of a bad three year run in recruiting. The numbers, history and logic says we needed a real good class to make up for the deficiencies from the past three.
