Heres what sucks if this indeed was the gameplan...

This thread is even more hilarious than the game thread. Now the entire University is the enemy and out to get the "fans". Amazing! I suppose if you spend a lot of money and travel to an away game and the team doesn't play up to your standards you will ask for a refund?

I guess all the overreactions should be expected, but c'mon, a little perspective please. It was a vanilla game plan that would have been a blowout without all the drops, missed tackles, and sloppiness. And obviously if Milton had hit some of those early throws.

But could we just once not completely come unraveled as a fan base at the first sign of trouble? Starting Nico right now would be incredibly stupid - you can't draw any conclusions off a game like this, and it would give you nowhere to go if the kid isn't ready. Why not have a little faith in the guy who resuscitated the program and is responsible for us even being in a position to dream the kind of dreams we are right now?

Yep, the backup QB is always popular, especially amongst UT "fans".
It’s every fan base, not just UT. Right now Bama fans are calling for the backup. Last week it was LSU fans calling to bench Daniels, even though he was their leading rusher.

No, what really sucks is because we weren't able to put this one away early, backups missed valuable reps that we were all pretty sure they were going to get, and that they all needed. Nico needed to see a lot of action today, but couldn't because we couldn't handle business. The refs sucked and screwed us, but we screwed ourselves too.

It's never the game plan to play bad🤣. I get tickled that people say that.

I dont know about the old vanilla excuse. I will admit I didn't see first half as was still working. However I'll say the biggest plan for games like this are just avoid injuries that can alter your SEC schedule.
I kinda want to buy it. We didn’t attempt 1 pass down the field. And we only went down the field 1 time last week. Either we are playing conservative right now, or Heupel don’t trust Milton to stretch the field just yet.

It's not the first sign. It's one of the first signs of a continuous problem.

I think it's on the folks who shelled out $200 for a stupid college football game ticket. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience sitting on my couch tonight. It cost nothing extra. I saw the same game in a much more comfortable environment. Until we all figure that out, the prices will remain ridiculous.

Curious as to why one „can‘t draw any conclusions off a game like this“?

I enjoyed listening to the game on the radio while watching Texas shellac Alabama on the tv.

Just watched the game on replay and while we were not firing on all cylinders offensively AP especially at the end of the game was not playing to win but seemed to be playing to not give up 50+ so I guess in that regard they succeeded but that last drive that started with 8 minutes or so I think the play calling was intended to run out the clock. AP may have just given other teams a blueprint on slowing us down tho. Just playing keep away with a ball control offense and when we get in a rhythm offensively using a time out to disrupt it. I just hope the coaches of future opponents don’t recognize it

if you recognized that and I recognized it then I can assure you other teams recognized it.
told my son the same last night.
OTJ needs to go. Saban would have pulled him at halftime.

Game plan was good. Team didn’t always execute when they needed to. A good example was the screen to Squirrel. Perfect play call, had the pass been better and had he not dropped it that’s 6 points.

Peyton’s last game in Neyland against Vandy was sloppy. I remember being at that game and expecting him to put on a clinic. He didn’t. Players do have poor games where things just aren’t clicking. Milton has to be given the ability to play for a while.

Milton in his sixth season. It is his third time being QB1 to start the season at a national football Program. He has had all the time he could ask for. Saturday in the swamp will determine his future and his legacy. He will either play a stellar game and become a legend in Vol history as his season takes off; or he will struggle and become another „what if“ discussion in Vol history; probably completing the season but falling short of his potential
I think he gets it done; but it is time. Games like the next one are pivotal
