I don't mean to do overkill on Herschel Walker's academic career, but for those of you who don't remember the Herschel years at Georgia (1980-1982), they were even better back then, than they are now ... until a Professor from their English Department named Jan Kemp blew the whistle on their academic corruption. It forced Vince Dooley into an early retirement and sent the fortunes of their football team in the opposite direction for the next 20 years or so. Herschel Walker was a main beneficiary of the academic fraud which kept barely literate UGA athletes eligible.
I only bring this up to underscore how absurd his academic boasts, including "
I was in the top 1% of my graduating class," are.
ESPN.com: NCAA - Georgia: Better late than never
It is unlikely that Herschel Walker could have even remained academically eligible without having been on the receiving end of the academic corruption, which Jan Kemp uncovered ... and yet, he wants us to believe that he not only graduated from Georgia, but did so at the top of his class? Come on, man.
