He's Back....

I have a feeling that Peterman is going to take the starting job this season. Worley is really solid but I just have a hunch that Peterman has worked is tail off and is ready to throw for 3500 and run for 800. I think Manning's presence has helped him mature and grow.

What makes you think that? XD

You're likely the only one. Did you happen to catch the UT-FL game last year?

Ya I did and I know he looked horrible but maybe something just clicked. Or maybe all the talent he has to distribute the ball to can help as well. All I know is someone has to step up and get this team some wins or I don't know how Butch is going to continue to recruit at a high level.( It seems like most of the three stars are good candidates for a bump.)

Did someone just post that Worley is "solid"? Omg. I just a piece on Fox Sports rating him the 14 the best in the SEC and that is being incredibly generous. He's terrible...Dobbs can't even throw the ball 55 yd's and Peterman is one of the worst qb's I have ever seen.

It's shameful for UT to be trotting out these lamers. They aren't even MAC quality.[/I]

Why must everything be sugar coated every year? Let's be real about the QB situation. They are horrible...period.

You obviously didn't watch the spring game cause if you did you would have noticed major strides of improvement in all 3 of our QBs. The one that preformed the worst out of the group is not even on the roster now. Granted that's just one game but I honestly feel like our QB situation is not our main concern at this point. I think between the 3 we will find a decent dependable QB. Might not break any SEC records but we will at least have a pretty solid QB. IMO

You'll catch hell for saying that around here, but I think he'll be miles ahead of where he was last year. There will be some games, where we can put the 2nd and 3rd tring guys in and I think you'll see Peterman looking much better than folks give him credit for.

Having said that, it will be really tough for CBJ to sit Worley, when he's been here the longest (seniority), and has been through a lot...but in the end, Dobbs fits this offense better than anyone else, and will win the starting job coming out of fall camp.

Nevertheless, I would not be surprised to see CBJ split time between Worley and Dobbs in the Utah State game, though...even if it is a tight score.

Not trying to flame, asking a sincere question. Why do you have this opinion of Peterman. I heard Hubbs say, "Peterman was a complete non factor this Spring" on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville pretty recently. You're not the only one saying this about Peterman. I try to pay pretty close attention to reports about the QBs that come out of Knoxville but I maybe missed something.

Again, it's a sincere question.

I am sure I would not want Hubbs to be my quarterback coach or make the decision on who could and could not play. His object to to sell advertisements and make money from his business.

I also watched the games in which Dobbs player. At least Peterman was playing with a broken thumb.

Dobbs set a freshman record at UT with 26 completions in his first start.... on the road....vs top 5 Mizzou....in a game where he also was UTs leading rusher. Struggled vs SEC champ Auburn but was light years better than Peterman. Struggled vs Vandy but still had the game won until Pig Howard happened. Threw for 200 yds, 2 tds and a rushing td vs Ky.....again, how does Peterman's 5 yds, 2 ints and .7 passer rating compare to Dobbs' numbers.

And btw, Jones confirmed that Dobbs also had a hand injury (in an interview at the coaches meetings a coupe weeks ago) his last few starts.

I don't know what everyone else sees but it looks to me like Manning is the only one in that picture with good mechanics.

My sincere question would be why a coach would keep a QB in the game with a broken thumb? He either had no confidence in Dobbs or had no other choice.

I'll be amazed if Peterman sees the field again, but I will say he's better than he showed against FL and is lucky the fans don't get to decide who starts. I think I'd have a feeling like it's my turn in a game of Russian Roulette if I decided to put him in, but the coaches see him working every day and know they put him in a nearly worst case scenario for his first start. I'll give you a bump for sticking your neck out for the guy.
