Heup Haters

Classes rank somewhere between 4th and 8th in the SEC every single year.
Class rankings don’t mean ****. The 2021 recruiting class was ranked in that spread. It ended up with 1 high school recruit who started (Jaylen Wright). 1 player. You don’t beat Alabama, Georgia, etc with high school ratings. You beat them with players.

Changing coaches today means you start practically all over. Players & recruits are free to leave immediately & many do. If Florida fires BN watch what happens to them.

lack of creativity in run game. UF showed more creativity. I really don't understand the first down (you know it's coming hand off up the middle on first down. Second down run the ball up the middle for 2 yards...put Nico in danger of sack for low percentage behind the sticks...or throw it 50 yards down the field. I think SEC coaches have figured out JH...
With your expertise can you tell us why Sampson is leading the conference in rushing?

Finally after 10 plus years on here someone recognizes my expertise.

Btw wasn’t flaming JH as a whole, I just think he’s gotten predictable and other teams have figured some things out and needs more creativity in play calling

The talent level has increased 100% from just 3 seasons ago. Tennessee may have the best DL & DB units on the field vs Alabama Sat. How long has it been since we could say that? Heupel is now recruiting head to head with Bama, Ga, OSU, Oregon, etc & winning a lot. Not since Fulmer have they done this.

If Nico & OL had been better, they’re undefeated. I’m concerned people are concerned. If you have extreme valid reasons to change coaches ok but you better realize coaching changes today are “poison pills” with players transferring & recruits decommitting once you go there.
Who said anything about changing coaches? If you're not concerned about how the team is going to do the rest of the season after losing to Arkansas and squeaking by OU, you have a screw loose.

Naw man, any criticism of the coaching staff means that you want to fire the on the spot.

Don't you know this?

You also can't level any criticism against them unless you yourself have played or coached at a DI level, so it's a moot point anyway.

When the talking heads are throwing out national rankings it makes sense to compare national stats. All games make or break a season, and in SEC play you'll catch a break for losing a tough SEC game, but there would have been no forgiveness for a loss to NC State. And who gets in the 12 spots will not be based solely on SEC performance, as it is open to more than the SEC.
Did UT catch a break by beating FL as we dropped in the rankings? I don't think so. Our non-conference schedule is a joke. There is not a single top 70 team on the list. If TN loses a non-conference game they don't deserve to be 1 of the 12 period. If you are a member of the SEC, the SEC schedule determines your post season fate. Always has and always will.

Heupel's best seasons as a head coach, at two different schools, were both with teams made up of players that he and his staff didn't recruit or significantly develop.
Yep. Mentioned this a couple of times. Of course, recruiting at UT should be easier. This is year 4. Next year is his roster. I'll be curious to see the product going forward. One thing kinda concerns me is the impact on our progress if this offense doesn't snap out of it and we end up with a 7-8 win season. Know Heupel is trying to protect Nico, but at some point, doesn't he need to take the training wheels off and let Nico just play? When I see that kid from Vandy, I just see a ball player. They're not coaching him scared. Just letting him do his thing and make plays. Nico won't learn and grow if you keep him in bubble wrap. Plus, if we get back to being UT and speed things up, there's no time for Nico to think. He just reacts. You learn from your mistakes. Heupel won't do it, but I'd think it's time to toss him into the deep end and let him sink or swim. This is UT not an NFL developmental program. I want UT to win. I'm not concerned about any NFL career. And if THIS game is too fast/tough for Nico, there's not a chance he's gonna make it in the NFL.

Heuple has shown when he chooses a QB he sinks or swims with him no matter what. I'm sure that is to give his QB confidence that he has his back. But how much playing time would Hooker have received in 2022 if Joe M. didn't get hurt??? Hope he learned from that.

Makes one wonder what Moore would actually be capable of if he was turned loose. Or if you are gonna be a run heavy tempo offense, then go with shuler and get an extra set of legs in there to compliment Sampson, and just let it rip.

Honestly, Nico looked more instinctual in the bowl game. He took a few sacks, but scrambled and looked more confident in the pocket then, than he has in any games since.

Not saying he's the best but if Nico makes the throws that was there against arky and fla he'd be the best vols coach ever. 😅
I'm just curious if they'd rather go back to Pruitt, Butch, Dooley? We've been the most relevant We've been in 20 years, and they want him fired?😆😆. Obviously they have short memories, it's not like coaches were lining up to come here, we were getting turned down by everyone. Oh, and before someone crues Kiffin, he sucks as a head coach.

Nearly everyone in the top 10 played a 1 possession game this week. (Bama by 2 over the worst team in the SEC, Penn St OT, Ole MS OT loss, use obviously, Oh St and Oregon).

I think what our fans are failing to realize is just how competitive things have become

I agree. The talent is much more spread out now thanks to NIL and the portal. Teams that used to be on the back burner are able to scoop decent kids up and give them a chance to play early. I stated it in another post, but CFB is becoming more like the NFL, and in the future I could easily see a 3-4 loss team winning a NC.

Just to clarify not saying I think Hype should dump Nico just saying hope he is not blinded by his loyalty if things are seriously going wrong, which I don't believe is the case here.

Tells me his head is spinning. Likely the speed of the game but also a healthy dose of coaches being in his ear. Still wonder if that tech communication device isn't partially to blame. Call the play and run it.
