Do we really want to do this again? I think we might have to face it. We’re an 8-9 win program with the potential for 10-11 win years sprinkled in. Unless we start recruiting on the level of Georgia, Bama, and Ohio State consistently again, this is the reality.
The reality is that we're historically an 8-9 win/season program. There's top shelf ignorance in our fan base. Starting with a pathetic entitlement syndrome manifested within our fan base.

As I read many different threads about Huepel. I keep seeing huepel is an 8-9 win coach. Is everyone ok with that.?
I am not. We should be wanting to win championships and 8-9 wins doesn't get that done.
Just my thoughts

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
God bless each one of you

Heupel may be a little to loyal to a QB he should've replaced and some coaches that are seeing their players not getting the job done, but were certainly no where near firing him so just suck it up and see what happens with the team going forward. Going to need to up grade the offensive line and receivers. Were getting a better QB Joe can't play next season. Secondary may need a coaching change talent seems a little better than the coach.

Im not saying in any way Heupel needs to be replaced, quite the opposite but isnt it interesting how coaches get a big contract extension when their teams are not playing the best, take Jimbo for example, he just landed a extension this year or end of last year and then is fired quickly thereafter, it would seem schools would take the "lets wait and see how this plays out " attitude when a coach is struggling, only makes good sense.

Well you have been here long enough to know.
Are you ok with that, no you are not.
1) Get out your Wallet and buyout CJH.
2) Figure out who will come here and would want to part of this Coaching Carousel and would take less than 4 years to fix it.
3) Hire them.

Happy Thanksgiving

This actually would be a perfect time to make a run at Gruden. I’ve heard he wants back into coaching, and his wife wants to move to East Tennessee.

39 million is what I was told it would be next season. It would be a heck of a lot easier to get rid of him, if it was only 18mil.
This is why you should not ever give unwarranted needless raises and extensions to ANY coach just a few years into an already long term contract. IF the coach falls on their face you are looking at keeping a bad coach for serval years longer or paying massive buyouts, or blowing up your own program to save the money(AKA Pruitt). Nothing against CJH, but its just stupid to put yourself in a hole that deep this early in a tenure. UT's biggest problem continues to be their administration.

If they fired Hype, I hope they don't but if they did. Who? Who are they going to go hire? Who out there is just an instant upgrade, we can't compete with a/m in a coaching search. They have more money and a better recruiting base, and they are interviewing low level guys because the big fish aren't moving. Add to that USC may become open because Riley is being proven a fraud. A coaching search is more likely to turn out worse than not. You can't switch coaches every 3 years and get anywhere. If they fired Hype half the team would leave, and you're back to the bare pantry of players. Give him the full 6 years of the initial contract if he's still having the 8-9 win season's, then plan for and make a switch.

A guy who made racist remarks won't coach in college. He'd be continously bashed in the media and by other coaches in recruiting. It's not going to happen, you'd be more likely to land Jason Witten or Peyton Manning.
