Heupel Postgame Presser....

He called it exactly right. They didn't handle the environment well, crowed noise, GA pressure, etc very well in 1st qtr, got behind and was climbing up hill from then on. Needed a TD after that GA fumble on first drive to set the tone, didn't do it. Season not lost by any means. 11-1 with only lost to #1 team in country not bad.

So happy to have Heupel here. The team had an off night against a Georgia team that has somehow enjoyed a lot of recruiting success over several years. No team in the country could've won there tonight. Make no mistake, Georgia always finds a way to lose at least a game at some point. Tennessee will get better even though this was a tough loss. Recruit, recruit, recruit! That is so critical.

Yeah we didn't play well today and got beat bad but I don't think the coaches or players really need to be too hard on themselves. Just go back to what they were doing that got them here and work harder.

I want us to win last 3 games and finish strong at 11-1.

I do think we need to get out and recruit more to get us up into top 5. Seems like we could use a little more defensive linemen and linebackers. Although these positions are fairly stout right now, we will be losing many of these great defenders after this year.

Let's be honest, though. Georgia is pretty damn good. Hard to say it because their fans were really buttholes about it everywhere bragging leading up to this game but they came out with a chip on their shoulder and it showed.

It was a tough weekend for me for a variety of reasons, notably that I found out my international adoption was delayed because people in the ministry of family can't get along and aren't reviewing cases but I have been overall happy with everything Josh Heupel and these players have done for our program.

When he says, "we will learn from it, we will get better, and our guys will be right when they come in the building," I believe him.

I do believe this team has gotten better every game. Tonight was the first night we saw them not look "themselves." And that was against the #1 team in the country at their place.

I believe strongly we will torch the next three opponents.

Candidly, they just werent ready for the mental game of coming into a game like that as the #1 team against the defending champs. Its hard to do that unless you are used to it. Once I was on stage and spoke in front of 100,000+ people live and then lots of tv etc. It sucked my breath away and although others thought I spoke well, I knew I was not my best. Nothing really prepares you for that except doing it.

CJH recognized exacty what the issue was. I think if we get to the playoffs, this loss will help them prepare so that they are better able to handle the pressure of the mental game and play at the level they are able to.

I don’t know. Something was wrong tonight
Yep - our qb wasn’t as accurate as he has been missing the long throws that he has been making lately. Hooker hits the long ones and we would have been in the game with a chance to win.
