little brother to who? How many times have the vols made it past the sweet 16? How many times have the vols consistently been a good basketball program? And now to make matters worse, look how the football team has faired these pasrt couple years!!!!(decline)
where do the vols come to recruit players but always fail like their basketball program,(men that is)??? I'll answer that one for you, memphis!!!
Last question, when will knoxville produce some talent for us to come and steal!!! I can hear pearl now calling tyler smith for back up.

That simplistic formula doesn't always work out.
Example: Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were enemies. The US wouldn't have called either of them friend.
Off topic, but I had to note that this is incorrect. The US called both of them friends at one point in history. Really close friends who we fed quite a bit of funds.
Yep, it's been said we have the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation. But however you slice it, it's near the top.
There will be a lot of freshmen, but it should be fun.

I live in Cordova and have spent most of my adult life in the Memphis area. As was mentioned earlier the most obnoxious and hate filled fans I run across are U of M fans. One of my favorite lines on vanity license plates I saw here in town said IH8UT. I found it amusing that Memphis fans worshipped the ground Cal walked on when he coached the Tigers but now despise him since he got his dream job at Kentucky. Oh yeah, forgot about this one. There's a guy that owns a doughnut shop on Mendenhall, Gibson's doughnuts, that is a huge Tiger fan and Cal used to come into his store to rub elbows. I went in there a month or so ago wearing my neon orange Tennessee jacket and he greeted me with "Hey, I see you're wearing your prison jacket". I just looked him in the eyes and he backed down and asked what he could get for me.Nope, not me, not disingenuous at all. The X didn't start winning big until he had been here several years and his recruiting started working. Kind of hard to lose with the caliber of players we had. Even then, he choked away a national championship and threw our game with Mizzou.
And West Tennessee Vol fans are truly obnoxious, maybe because most of them have never stepped foot on campus in Knoxville, or any college campus, for that matter. They wear blue in the winter and turn orange in the fall. And we all know that means they are neither fish nor fowl. You are either True Blue or Vol Orange. Agreed?
Just curious. Have you spent much time down here among the orange West Tennesseans?

I come in peace. eace2: I am a Memphis and Vandy alum. You can imagine how I have felt about you all forever.
BUT I come here to say CONGRATS on your win over the Evil Empire. We here in Memphis loathe the X and the class he stole from us. We will be back next year with a vengeance, but until then, I appreciate you all taking them down.
Many of us here in Memphis used to consider you all our most despised nemesis. But for many of us, (not all), KY jelly has totally replaced you Vols on our radar screen.
I won't comment on the orange folks here in West Tennessee, but you all up there have been quite cordial to me on my last two forays into Knoxville for bb and football games. Whenever you play KY, I will be pulling for you. Good luck in the Big Dance.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to say, we have always known Pearl is a heck of a better coach than X.
Your idea of a compliment is calling people "obnoxious?"
I notice you didn't try to refute my point about Memphis fans having the "little brother" complex where Tennessee is concerned.
Also, for the OP, Memphis has never made it onto our radar as a team we hate. First you'd never play us, then when you did, we won our fair share despite your high rankings and NBA talent. You are but another school that hates UT, not a school that UT hates. Vols hate Bama, Florduh, UK, and maybe LSU. Vandy is higher on our rival list than your conference USA joke of a program. You should've thanked us for beating Kansas after the way you blew it in the big game, not that that victory would have stayed in the record books, you cheaters. Go eat some BBQ, as that is Memphis' only saving grace.
How many times has Memphis State made it past the Sweet 16 and not had it vacated by the NCAA for cheating?
How many times has Tiger High had a consistently good basketball program without having a payroll that rivals the Memphis Grizzlies?
And to makes matters worse, when has Memphis State's football team ever been anything more than a bad joke?
Your new coach as done a great recruiting job. If he can "coach'm up" as good as he can recruit, you are going to have a great program and won't miss Cal at all. At least you won't have to worry about having a final four vacated.
I came on here to compliment your school on a big win. I did not come on here to compare fans. But since a question was asked, I am damn well going to give my opinion from six decades of living in Tennessee.
I don't have to refute your point. I just wanted to give you all a high five. Why can't you just say Thank You? Show some class, dude.

Saddam and Osama were our friends when we needed them to keep Khomeini and the Soviets occupied.
Joseph Stalin was our friend when we needed him to help us deal with Adolf while we took care of Tojo.
The French were our friends when we needed their help to get George III's Redcoats and Hessian thugs out of America.
Things change, though, and so do allies.
