I can’t get this list to pull up completely
edit: I finally got it to pull up. Took me several tries

Rod Wilks is never included in lists because all lists are merely contenders with Rod Wilks assumed to be the champion.

Ahhhhh . . . This brings back some great memories of my early days on VolNation! We should have an Old-Timers reunion at some point for those of us that go back close to 20 years or so. Maybe have it during homecoming weekend. We could rent out a hotel conference center and invite Wilks to be the guest speaker.

Jack Jones was a waste of a good lineman. Butch misused that entire class.

Drew Richmond

I think you’re misremembering a bit here. Jack Jones had very promising results early on and then was lost to a career ending injury (back I believe)

Not sure that’s on Jones.

Butch kept playing him while his neck and shoulder were injured because of lack of depth.
It was the biggest disaster of that 2017 season. Instead of healing, Jack kept having to go out there. Until he felt like he could never go again.

May I ask your source on that? I’ve never heard that version for events

I wonder how many “Rod Wilks” jokesters ever won anything? And I’m not talking about 10th grade JV dressing out on Friday night playing 3 plays in the 4th Qtr.

I'm still waiting on the 1st funny RW joke

The sad thing is, all but one went to P5 schools and less than half picked Tennessee.

That is sad but you can't blame some of them for going to Clemson, AL etc where they could play for championships instead of a TN program that was a dumpster fire for most of this period. Bad AD's led to bad coaching hires and down we went. Very sad indeed.

The ranking of this list doesn't make sense to me. From memory, Gerald Riggs should be ranked #1 as he was the biggest prospect out of the state that I can remember and it's not particularly close. You're also relying on the 247 from that era, which isn't precise as they weren't even around as a company and some of these kids that are listed as 4 stars were 5 stars at the time (depending on which publication you followed). Turner was highly rated by 1 publication, but wasn't as highly thought of by others, same for Marlon Brown.

They forgot #1 all time Walter Nolen from Powell who had a .997 rating and the #2 overall player in the nation. How do they forget our best ranked player ever?
