Holly is not the problem.

The LVs have one of the deepest, most talented teams in the country. This is a Top 10 team with the right coaching and game planning. The coaching staff is stale and ineffective. They're not getting the best out of the players and they're not putting them in the best position to succeed. They need a fresh perspective.

i used to think holly was 90% 0f the problem but after watching this team for the last several days i honestly don't think pat s or even geno could get quality play out of them!they seem to come up short for every long rebound or loose ball, can't hit the broad side of a barn when shooting and fold like a tent when the going gets tough. the saddest part of this is next year and the one after that looks worse

Geno, PAt. . . ME. . . !!!
Any coach could get more out of these kids than what they are putting out right now.

Kids go off on their own agenda because parents lets them. . . . . Players go off on their own agenda's because Coach lets them. . . If it had never gotten started it would be a moot point

I wouldn't let them even start that BS

Oh I think Pat or Geno could do better.... This roster is talented...... 7 HS All Americans... and no I do not subscribe to the belief they ALL were overrated..... Pat or Geno would demand that they play as a team..... sit down those who had attitude.... and of course P or G would implement an offense..... not just run and gun it.... as Holly says "quick shoot"... the bad shooting percentage comes from chucking it up without a plan offensively.....

Well said... I do consider that the bad shooting tough is two things: getting too deep in the shot-clock and that the girls have been so publicly chastised for shot selection that they are double-thinking instead of shooting in rhythm with an open mind.

I do think there is a problem with the players, when they put out the team effort they do good and then they will lay an egg,how many wide open shots were missed ? they were there, how many dumb passes have you seen for turn overs ? they miss on the chip shots too

you don't think CHW has been telling them to do these things ? I don't,just think how good there record would be if they hit a couple of those wide open shots ,made a decent pass or two and make them chip shots

Both shooting and missing are mental, once muscle memory takes the spot initially held for learning... The body doesn't forget what the brain embedded into it.

I usually explain muscle memory to my girls... I shoot three foul shots with my eyes closed. Most of the time i will hit one, sometimes two. never three.... I do this to help the girls understand it is the mind that controls the body and it is the mind that gets distracted, not the body.

With that said, I will put them on the line and tell them to shoot the first foulshot as if a fist was on front of the rim and you have to shoot the ball into the net, over that fist. Once the player gets a make, I tell them to focus on the first, deep V in the netting at the back of the rim. Once i get them to use this concept, all i have to say from the bench is: More push (short shots), more arc (long misses) or draw a line (for side to side misses)... to get them to hit their shots.

I am 56 years old. Work out twice a week at NFC. There are times when i finish my workouts and shoot ten foulshots, i can hit 6 or more. And there are times I hit 2-3... the difference between the two times is how I am mentally at the line. . . Focused on all aspects of my mechanics, or, skipping a mechanic or two.

Its mental folks... promise!
