"Kortney Dunbar came off the bench and made two critical baskets in the last two minutes Thursday night as No. 24 Tennessee rallied to beat Ole Miss 57-51 after blowing a nine-point, fourth-quarter lead.

We're going to need her down the stretch," Tennessee coach Holly Warlick said. "I think this is a great start for her."

3 games left to the SEC season and Holly thinks it's a great start for Kortney?

Holly needs to be shown game tapes of Kortney Dunbar this season because she's very forgetful and worthless.

Fire Holly, NOW!:)

Don't hate Holly..don't hate nobody...just want to see the Lady Vols return to their rightful place at the top of women's basketball. We need someone who can take our great tradition, incredible facilities, unbelievable fan base, and current roster and parlay that into a great future!!

Agree Kortney should be seeing much more playing time. She is a valuable player and should be in the starting rotation.

What did we have tonight--57? That's a good night for us. We have a bad offense and that is why every game is a struggle. If you can't reach 60 points--and we almost never do--you risk losing a lot of games. We've seen that.

Not happening until there is a head coaching change, and then it may be too late by then.

(On Kortney Dunbar playing in tonight's game)
"Thank god I got her in! Thank goodness, Kortney, Nia and Meme work so hard in practice. I had already decided before the game started that I was going to give them that opportunity. They did not disappoint. They did not back down. I thought their defense was solid. I worry about sometimes Kortney defending, but I thought she did an outstanding job, and obviously hit a big three, got a huge rebound for us."

(On Kortney's play with the game on the line)
"Kortney just does what she does. She has ice water in veins. She and Meme both went in at crucial times, and they delivered. She has a lot of confidence in what she does. She's put in the time and I think our defense has gotten so much better, so I gave her that opportunity and she delivered."

(On playing Kortney more often)
"I'm always trying to get Kortney in the game. I'm trying to get everyone in the game. It's kind of time and possession and who is scoring, and who's playing well and what we need. Like I said, some games I have a lot of confidence in Kortney and I haven't gotten her in. I think we're going to need her down the stretch, and I think this was a great start for her."

(On getting Kortney Dunbar more minutes)
"Yes, I'm going to try. Look, bottom line is I've got to do what I need to do to win. Those two young ladies helped us win today. I hope I can get them more playing time, absolutely."
POSTGAME QUOTES: Lady Vols 57, Ole Miss 51 - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

FWIW....On a per-minute basis, Dunbar's scoring efficiency (1 pt every 2.08 min) is 2nd only to DeShields' (1 pt every 1.91 min).

I woke up this morning totally depressed at how UT played vs OM last night.

That should have been a 40 point win and Clueless as Hell Holly had to be saved from certain loss by a couple girls who apparently she didn't know was on her team.

Most every poster on this site has been after her to "Free Kortney" all damn year. Now, she has the gall to claim "I have a lot of confidence in Kortney".

Just go, Holly, take your thousands & thousands $ and leave, go to a beach and never return. Just go!

Holly has been HBC 4 years at@$650,000 per year. She should have at the very minimum a cool 1.5 in the bank somewhere, LORD knows she doesn't spend money on dresses. She could leave and live comfortably and let a real Basketball mind take the reins.

Andy Landers said in his comments, while the ladies of the SEC show was giving special props to how well the LV's played, he said let's be real the LV's versus Ole Miss should be and has always been a mis-match...Holly I take issue with you saying this was a great win,

:realmad:Dunbar sits on the bench for 37 minutes of the game, plays 3 minutes at the end and scores 5 points...fire Warlick now!!!! In the meantime DeShields and Cooper cannot protect the ball as usual and commit 4 turnovers each!!!!:boxing2:

The team IS NOT improving. We're actually probably slightly worse then when the season first began.

The players have no discipline (turnovers) but they also have no direction (bad coaching).

Holly can stay as long as she wants but there won't be any improvement because clearly she can't coach the players she recruits.

She has no vision or insight. Her play of Dunbar is evidence of that. She's clueless. Like I've noted, the longer she stays, the worse the program will do. We could very well be bottom of SEC next year. Other teams are getting better while we're stuck in a web of dysfunction.

Every Holly backer should be forced to read this until they have it memorized and can recite it clearly every time they want to defend the indefensible. Thanks for this post, kamoshika.

That's what she says, but I don't see anything happening. She only uses Kortney when she is desperate for a 3.

She won't see the court against Georgia unless they are down double digits with 2 minutes left in the game.

Holly is in la-la land. We are scratching out wins over BAD SEC teams at home that we would have beaten by 30 back in the day. And we are losing to BAD SEC teams, too. It hasn't quite penetrated Holly's thick head that the team's biggest problem is offense, not defense. You would think that she would recognize that scoring 50/55 points a game is problematic--but then she simply is not very astute. Every year she babbles about defense, and every year our offense sux and is the reason we lose. As I say, she's stuck in 1975. She truly think, I believe, that winning a game 48-45, with good defense, is the BEST THING EVER. Yet it has not dawned on her that it has gotten harder to play good defense because players/teams/coaches are a LOT better offensively than they were 20 years ago, so you have to score efficiently and play well offensively, too. (We've also had a bunch of lazy guards defensively in recent years, including this team, but that's a problem for another time.)

Shot for shot Dunbar is the best scoring guard forward on the team. If she takes 8 three point shots you can expect she will make three which is better than anyone else we have. I wish they would let her play more and work the ball for open threes for her close to the three point line. She doesn't need to take those 30 footers needs to get closer in where she is 40 percent or better.
Holly would serve the team well by keeping a three point shooter in there and let her and Middleton gain their confidence in their play. I don't get the defense is not good concern that Holly keeps throwing out there. She was great on defense last night and in those three minutes scored five points and went in there and aggressively ripped a rebound. Remember the first game of the season when she got to start and played 30 minutes and scored 24 points and 15 rebounds shooting 10 of 15 from the field.
That was when Reynolds and Carter were either injured or serving a one game penalty never found out for sure.
Next game Holly cuts her to nine minutes where she scores three points and two rebounds.
I think shooters like Dunbar and Middleton have to get in a rhythm and sometimes that takes more than five minutes.
We could do worse Reynolds is shooting in the 30's and who can say her defense is any good with all the layups she gives up every game to the person she is guarding.
We need to give Dunbar a chance and see what she can do in extended minutes.
