There's not an athletic director in the country that would fire a coach that made the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. Not one.

Unfortunately, I know that's true. What's also true is that S16 and the occasional E8 is the best we can expect from Tennessee as long as Holly is coach, and that's a shame.

They are destined to remain an also ran as long as she is coaching them.

I'm not going to advocate for her to stay forever. The results will speak for themselves next year. But if you make a move on her, the pool of candidates you're going to be selecting from for this job is very different than what you all think it will be. The money is the same other places with expectations that are a lot more realistic.

You also have to find candidates willing to work for a new AD that fair or not has a reputation in coaching circles as being a pain in the @ss to work with.

DP isn't the end-all, be-all when it comes to the UT athletic department on message boards. WTBS, I know he is correct about this when it comes to social media.

Still trying to figure out why UConn is the only school that can expect a FF every year. Why? ND does it seemingly every year -- they have FF talent every single year. Why shouldn't they expect it? Baylor should. South Carolina should right now. Hell WE should. We have top 5 talent every single year so why the hell shouldn't we? Sorry but you ARE saying we need to lower the bar of expectations. That's EXACTLY what you're saying. You know good and well that the rosters we have had the last couple of years would've been FF quality with better coaching. If our goal is to recruit to get to the FF then why isn't that the standard? Pretty much every roster Holly has had since she's been here would've been in a FF with competent coaching. And that's with some scrubs on the roster who shouldn't even be here and with us striking out in recruiting what? Two years in a row?

I never suggested anyone shouldn't be allowed to post. In DP's case, I just said to consider the source (and most here are intelligent enough to anyway) when it comes to his undying support for Holly....

Three years running? That means you think she should have been fired after a 30 win season, 15-1 in the SEC, and reaching the E8 with her best player hurt. The only word for that is delusional.

I think it definitely should be the expectation. As of now, it's the standard, as opposed to expectation. There's a difference. And it isn't the expectation because we know we have a coach and a staff that doesn't have what it takes to motivate and develop a team to get there.

I agree, but I also understand going EVERY year isn't realistic for any program aside from UConn at the moment. I think the realistic barometer should be the same as when Pat was here, every recruit should expect to play in at least one Final Four before she graduates. And every Lady Vol who stayed 4 years did until Pat's health deteriorated at the end of her career. Teams like Baylor, Stanford, etc. don't go every year but are regular participants. No reason in the world Tennessee shouldn't be one of those teams...
