I have good spray foam insulation above the second floor, and it's tight as a tick. No problems here. It's even tolerable in the attic/storage space.

Oh, and the thought of sleeping at 78 degrees every night in the summer makes me ill. It can't be cold enough for me (especially with my reptilian wife that still bundles with 283 layers of blankets).

At 78 degrees I wouldn't be sleeping period. There are studies that say heat can very much affect sleep patterns.

just put in a new rheem system and had new blown in insulation added using tva system.

we keep it 74-75 at day and 72 at night. have a baby

Mine is set at 69 and I still have a really good window AC unit blowing directly on me full blast set at 62. I still sweat. lol

Now that's not right, you might have a Hypothalamus issue. :) I also admit to being hot natured myself though.

Anybody use a Nest

I don't personally but I've done some research on it. It caters to households where the thermostat gets adjusted frequently. If you typically set your thermostat to the same temp for most of the day there is little point in getting one.
