Honeymoon Over?

So we should never expect us to upset anyone?

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that losing these games aren't the end of the world. The upsets we should look for this year are Auburn, Mizzou, and Vandy. Those are games that in past years would be givens, and I'm pretty sure we'll be the underdog in all three.

if he keeps recruiting good then i really don't give a **** about this season. it wasn't going to happen this year anyways.

That's why I want to see the freshman quarterbacks.

You never know how they will do in a game till they play.

Also butch may need to recruit a running qb

I don't think some of the fans realize just how bad a shape the program had fallen into. Not only the talent, but the mental attitude as well. This team went to Oregon with the mindset that it was no better than a rent-a-win FBS school, there for the paycheck. Same with the trip to Florida. That mindset starting popping up in Fulmer's last years. Weasel or not, for a brief moment, Kiffin restored some of the swagger. Dooley was a complete waste. Give Jones a chance. I think he knows what he's doing, but he's got one big hole to climb out of.

And how was that? We were at least in the game until the end. Can't say that about former coaches. We played a tough game against a better team. We have crap for talent this year, especially at QB. Only real negative I saw today besides the loss was our O line, they kinda disappointed me.

We were really never in that game. We scored one offensive touchdown. Players can't tackle (that's fundamental), our qbs miss wide open receivers in favor of throwing to double covered ones. We ran reverses several times when their DLs could outrun or WRs. We continue to run the read option when our QB never keeps it (as he should). We let receivers run wide open frequently. These are just a few things that are not talent dependent but coaching.

Note to all Vols Fans. We should just expect to lose all the time. That's what I see on Volnation. Any team that is the least bit more talented than us expect to lose. If its another SEC team expect to lose. If we go on the road expect to lose. Have no expectations, except the expectation to lose. Don't get the team off the bus, play it off on paper, And Never play above and beyond what people think your talent level may be.

By the way please don't tell to teams like App State, Fresno State, Boise State or Vandy etc. etc.

It pains me to point out how wrong you all are. We lost two games that we were expected to lose. Get over yourself.

This^^ TN needs to concentrate on the last 4 games of the season. Those are the ones that'll make or break a bowl season.

He lost me today.

He won me over in the off-season, but not pulling Peterman with a chance to win the game in the first half was awful.

I don't like this read option junk, but I'm willing to give him the benefit. He better recruit better than Fulmer though. And Hurd and co better look good in this offense he is installing.

Butch has got to win me back at this stage.

Go away then. Please, go be a Bammer

I am sure he will devote massive amounts of time to winning you back... I would bet he will even lose sleep over it.

As I sat on my couch, the reality of the game setting in, I looked over and saw my son, 10 years old, loving his Vols, watching every play. As the game ended, I thought of this forum, and all the fans struggling, looking for hope. My kid, went to his room, put on his favorite Vols Jersey and said, I am going to play some football. EVERYONE here has a right to their opinion, but HOW do we just suggest turning off our love for this team? The honeymoon may end, but as far as I am concerned I am married to this team the rest of my life (bad illustration maybe?!), and by the looks of things, so is my kid. Hang in there everybody!

It's a sad state of affairs for you to consider beating any of those an upset!

Dumb post is dumb.

No one expected to win this game.

However, after what happened in the first half, everyone knows WE SHOULD HAVE WON THIS DAMN GAME.

Hell, playing Peterman could have been defended - IF HE PULLS HIM AFTER TWO POSSESSIONS, TWO TURNOVERS. We STILL would have won today if he does that!

we will have around a top 16 ranking in recruiting, I damned sure hope we get better on both fronts! ( It's still early in recruiting and I can promise you these guys are seeing what we are the same ole silly defense and offense..some will jump ship)

Top 16? So how many commits do you think we lose?

I hate losing

Florida lost their starting QB on their first drive

Florida was down 2 starting Offensive lineman

Florida was missing their starting CB

We injured their 2nd best CB

They turned the ball over 3 times in the first half

They still beat us by 2 TD's

Ughh

We were outcoached, plain and simple. 90% of our fans were calling for a win, and then as soon as we lose they claim it was expected

People say we were supposed to lose this game but at some point we have to win one were supposed to lose. This was a great chance to do that

Is coaches honeymoon over? I know we're gonna have growing pains, but his coordinators and play calling have certainly been suspect..

This is gonna take 3 years minimum, does our fickle fan base give him that much time? There's already people calling for his head, smh

Those are the same people who got us into this mess... hoping the powers that be finally realize how retarded it is to listen to those emo voices, and will chill and let him do what he needs to do.

If we don't give Butch at least 4 years, you can kiss the next decade goodbye. I don't think this will be an issue as I still believe Butch is the guy. I still cannot believe this stuff is having to be said 4 GAMES into Butch's Tennessee career.

i don't like this read option, unless the QB keeps it every now and again and run,the defenses aren't even paying any attention to the QBs,so what is the point ? i would rather see the QB under center with a I back formation,of course that is just me

a good QB that fits CBJs offense would be great to have, there may be one in the 2 freshmen, but i don't think CBJ is wanting to burn there redshirts

i'm with you, there is no quick fix to the talent lvl as it stands now,i believe it will take CBJ another 4 years to get everything righted,UT doesn't need to be hiring another coach in a year or 2
