This is getting crazy. As things escalate between Hong Kong and China, public relations are becoming a nightmare for corporations that want access to Chinese markets. Here is a primer to catch you up:

Last week South Park destroyed Chinese censorship in an episode called Band in China, and they've been subsequently banned in China (can't believe this didn't already happen).

This past weekend, Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted "Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong." which resulted in all hell breaking loose in China. Basketball is the most popular sport there and the NBA is huge, but they're now canceling TV contracts etc. Since then, the Rockets (China's unofficial team), including Morey, have been expressing love and admiration for China and offering every kind of apology they can come up with.

The NBA front office initially took a position on the fence but ultimately endorsed free speech.

Now we have Blizzard, a CA based video game producer banning an e-sports pro from Hong Kong and taking away his prize money after supporting Hong Kong protesters. They've also ended a relationship with Taiwanese streamers who interviewed him.

The Rockets are cowards. I'm pleasantly surprised by the NBA, considering how much they stand to lose. Blizzard can go **** themselves and die a horrible death. And of course, as always, South Park is the most punk rock.

The bottom line is that Hong Kong which was a British territory for decades was ceded to China and now the citizens of Hong Kong are realizing what that means and want no part of communism. You liberals should heed their warning.

Yep. People rationalized that China wouldn’t tank their cash cow. Whelp guess what! Anybody caught flat footed by this and not getting out in time hasn’t read any history.

At least Trump sees what China is doing and isn't looking to cash in when he leaves office like the career politicians do.

Yeah, Trump is taking a real hard line against China by keeping his mouth shut and not saying anything about their human rights abuses. We're so blessed to have an absolute coward as the leader of the free world. He loves authoritarian governments.

Yet he refuses to have an unfair trade agreement with them like your democrat cohorts do. Look in the mirror.

So he's no better than the corporations who are refusing to stand up for human rights because he/they stand to gain politically/financially. Let's be real, he's not waging a trade war for America. He knows it's bad for America.

Glad we've established that he either doesn't care about human rights or won't stand up for his principles. It's quite the pickle he's put himself in.

You're a partisan idiot. Vote Trump out of office if you think you can. Your party doesn't think they can that is why they went full court press on impeachment. Your party is as dumb as a box of rocks.

I'm an idiot and dumb as a box of rocks but you can't even put together an honest, coherent argument. You know I'm not a Democrat but sadly that and name-calling are the only moves you have.

You are engaging in a bit revisionist history. The 100 year lease on Hong Kong expired in 1997. China took over with guarantees to allow capitalism, no communism and civil rights. No one in Hong Kong wanted to be a part of China but it was a fait accompli. China kept their word until recently, until they started cracking down on protesters.

Wow, he's blacklisted some Chinese companies and municipal services. I take everything back. It's perfectly fine that he congratulated Xi on 70 years of authoritarian communism and doesn't have **** to say about the Chinese government shooting protesters.

According to the article, all it means is that "Being added to the “Entity List” bars companies or other entities from buying parts and components from U.S. companies without U.S. government approval.", so in application, it may not mean anything at all.

Breaking news: There is a 320 million person consumer market right here in the United States. How about we focus on our own market?

I didn't say and don't think it's "perfectly fine". I even stated on this board it was dumb and should have left well enough alone. So you're of the mindset that if it isn't as far reaching as what you want, he shouldn't have done anything at all?? Maybe it's the start of a more measured and agressive approach in dealing with the Chinese that they're not used to. He constantly does this....feeds someone with one hand and slaps them with the other. Good, bad or indifferent I'm not sure yet. More to do? Sure. Do you suggest he should never challenge the Chinese in trade? Then in what other ways do you apply significant pressure? The UN? Feckless bastards they are. And also in application, it may actually mean something, but you don't seem to want to give it a chance. Just chalk it up to Orange man bad?

Damn. Do they have to block the faces to protect them from identification by the State?

It's here in the states as well. Come through customs at a major US airport lately? Facial recognition cameras right at the Customs officer's kiosk. I think we'd be naive to think it won't be ever expanding.

"We're strongly dissatisfied and oppose Adam Silver's claim to support Morey's right to freedom of expression," the statement read. "We believe that any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are not within the scope of freedom of speech." - Chinese state broadcaster CCTV

Um....liberals have been the most outspoken on this issue. Haven't heard a peep from white house sonny.

I assume all the people that stopped watching the NFL are going to stop watching the NBA over China trying to censor us on our own soil?
