Hong Kong + the West vs. China vs. Corporations

In fairness to Trump, he did say if China does anything bad it could hurt trade negotiations. Nevermind that it seems like an empty threat, especially since they have already done bad, but at least it's something.

All he has to do is condemn their actions. They are obviously incredibly sensitive to how the world perceives them. Threatening them with trade ramifications is stupid because we don't want that and they don't seem to care about that.

Sorry. No one watches regular season NBA anymore, except huff. He has a crush on all pro athletes. Better?

I know you can't do math, so I'll break it down for you. Forget about all the millions of NBA fans in the United States and keep pretending in your fabricated reality that they don't watch NBA regular season....China has more NBA fans than the USA has people.

Check out the skyrocketing NBA franchise valuations and sale prices and tell me people don't watch regular season hoops.

Adam Silver has a chance here to be the hero. If China is going to try to squash freedom of speech/expression ON OUR OWN SOIL by canceling TV games and making other threats he needs to say (and I am paraphrasing here) "yea well f*** YOU". He won't say that but he could say something like...."You know what, maybe the NBA in China isn't the best thing right now. We have a lot of similarities but some core differences and until we can find a common ground we will be pulling our brand out of your country". Talk about putting the Chinese communist regime in a tough spot, there are hundreds on millions of people that would be instantly pissed off at their government for starting this spat when all they had to do was to keep quiet about it and roll with the punches.

Now, I don't expect him to say that or he would have already done so by now. He does his bidding to the multi-billionaire owners who want the $5 billion that the Chinese bring them annually. I mean, these guy really need that 157ft yacht because the 130 footer just doesn't have it anymore and they aren't willing to give right up. And there in lies capitalism at its worst...we will sell out the very first amendment we have or else China will threaten us with economically. If you aren't pissed off at this, whether your are an NBA fan or not, then you are part of the problem.

He already stood up to them and trumpeted freedom of speech, refusing to apologize. If he's trying to affect change in China, cutting ties is not smart. Here you are blasting capitalism...when have you ever lost money standing up for free speech?...because Adam Silver just did. I assume you have since you're going the holier-than-thou route. China, a communist state, is the bad actor here suppressing freedom and you are saying this is capitalism at its worst. Seriously, what? Take your erroneous shaming elsewhere.

Wow he sorry not sorry and now I am sure he just wants everything to settle down and sweep it under the rug. He has a chance to cement his legacy not only in sports but also in the history books. No I have never lost money over free speech. But yes this is capitalism at its worst. Money > basic freedoms which this country stands on. I see what side you take, and that's cool. It's your right after all.

ESPN averaged 1.69m viewers per regular-season game last year and TNT averaged 1.61m. That's all games (8 per week?) and they're basically on par with Sunday Night Baseball, which is the marquee game of the week...

Steve Kerr, Greg Poppovich, and LeBron are all cowards. Watching Kerr squirm and refusing to denounce communism was unreal.

At least he didn't call Xi a "great leader" like our beloved POTUS did.

I assume all the people that stopped watching the NFL are going to stop watching the NBA over China trying to censor us on our own soil?
All we need to do now is inform the "patriots" and red hats that Fidel Castro was a baseball player and we could have all 3 of the major sports boycotted by the flag worshippers...
