"Hook em Horns"!

Dont set yourself up for disappointment then pj. t.u. wont be able to stop a SEC offense, and Bama's secondary will eat Cart McCry's lunch. I'll be shocked if they can stay within 20 of em'.

And look, I get it too. I know yall hate Bama with all your heart and soul. Im just pointing out what I think will happen. Im not throwing rocks at anyone in here. It just caught me off gaurd to see "Hook em" as a thread title. That's all.

Yall know me. Yall know I understand the whole Bama-Vol rivalry.

I agree but the only disappointment is that bammer will win their 98th football title. TX losing does nothing to me

Yea, I guess in VA it would have little effect on you. Over here out West, it's a little diffrent.

hey I get it (I lived out west for a while) plus my aunt is a bama grad and her husband is a Texas grad. Emails have been flying the last few hours.

Remind me how it helps UT in any way if Bama loses? Other than a fleeting feeling of joy over a rival's loss, followed by the reminder that we actually lost to the loser.

It helps Tennessee if Bama wins?

It just punctuates the phrase, "In 2009, the SEC was the best conference in NCAA football."

meh. We all knew that anyway. 3 straight SEC BCS champs proves that. 4 straight is just getting silly.

Imagine you're Lane Kiffin. In a recruit's home. And you want to sell that recruit on the future of Tennessee's program.

Option 1: "We were a blocked field goal away from defeating the national champion on their home turf."

Option 2: "We were a blocked field goal away from defeating the team that lost to the national champion, but hey, Bama lost, so that's actually much better for us because they're our rivals, and we don't want them to do well. Don't mind that you could also think it means that the Big 12 is clearly a superior conference and that we're also-rans in an inferior conference. Don't think that - trust me. It's better that Bama lost, because UT won the national championship -- not "UT" as in University of Tennessee, but still, it's a UT nonetheless, and their colors are orange too -- well, not like ours, but still, it can't be a bad sign, can it?"

Yeah. Playing the "we almost beat the winner" card is for Kentucky and Vanderbilt. If a kid needs to hear that to come play here, then we really don't need him.

TX will always get their recruits because of their HS system. That just won't change. We are going head to head with bama on lots of kids. I would much rather go against the loser of the NC game than the defending NC. Saban's going to get his NC very soon but I would hope we had a little more time to build.

So if Kiffin doesn't play that card, he plays which one?

The "We beat Kentucky and Vanderbilt" card?

I'd play the "we should've beaten the NC" card, and we will this year.
