It only matters if Tennessee has someone in the running for it. 1956 Johnny Majors finished 2nd to Paul Hornung who was on a 2-8 Notre Dame team. Tennessee was 10-1.

You lose a hugely important game and you lose it late...nuked a lot of things. COY, Hookers awards, playoff appearance. Lots of fallout and damage from the South Carolina debacle. Hope the pain and memory linger for this program.

Hooker "lost" his awards in Athens, when he appeared to clearly be shook, and outmatched. The South Carolina game had little negative impact on his season stats, which overall, were terrific....
