'80 grad. Oldest son graduated in 2010; youngest is finishing Jr. year in Sports Management (works for AD).

So yeah, smartass. "Our win."

Yea wrong, by calling it our win your taking credit for it. Do you know how irritated athletes get when fans refer to the team as us, ours etc. Be a fan of the school man but don't take anything away from the coaches or players by calling it our win. We are just fans even if you went to that school you and your son are still just fans you had in no way shape or form an impact on the outcome of the game so from now on use they or their. Thanks

The guy who started this thread refered to yesterdays win as "our win". Last time I checked he wasn't coaching or playing and has no ties to the program outside of being a graduate so therefore it should be the teams win.

if you adopt a kid from a foster family as a newborn, would you call it your kid? or our kid when talking to people?:)

Heh. By your logic, Coach Martin is wrong when he refers to "our fans" coming out to the Arkansas game Wednesday . Because -really - he doesn't actually sit in the stands, eat popcorn, and cheer.

Nice try, goof.

So, when fans are loud at Neyland (or any stadium) and cause a team to false start does that mean that the fans had no contribution in that 5 yard penalty which could impact the game?

Everyone knows who is playing and coaching the game, but if it weren't for the thousands of fans that show up to football and basketball games then there wouldn't be many sports on campus period. So, yes, I think the fans have a right to say "our team" because without "our dollars" there wouldn't be many teams fielded unless it was out of their own pockets.

It's not "our" dollars. It's the gubments...they manufactured the bills. The currency is only briefly passing through our hands.

Imagine no possesions. It's easy if you try.

Such a strange thread, this one...

The premise was sound. The hope that the footballers might get some inspiration from the roundball team's success against the gators.

Heh. It seemed to annoy some people in various ways.
