Hopson is SOFT

You are right in that on this website we have a very "what have you done for me lately attitude". I understand he didn't have a good game yesterday and it was noticeable that he moped around but to call him a bust is ridiculous. IMO if I need someone to hit a big shot on this team I look for Scotty.

Not saying much when you look at our other options.

Honestly I'd rather Maze or Chism get the last shot, at least if they get fouled they can hit a free throw.

WHY???? Because he somehow hit ONE shot at the end of a Game???? Give me a break. Go inside to Wayne every time.:banghead2:

Scotty was the 5th ranked player overall in his class. Through more than half of his sophomore season, he is not in the top 35 best shooting guards (or small forwards) in the NCAA. I would consider that a bust.

Yes, Scotty does seem to play soft at times. The one thing that really gripes me is when he hit the game winner against Florida everyone wrote about how he was ready to start taking over. Really, it was one great shot and he needs to be more consistent like the rest of the team.

talent only goes so far, playing hard is about desire. Dane Bradshaw is living proof of that, CJ Black is another name that comes to mind. both players played over their head in my opinion.

Scotty is a waste of scholarship if you ask me, this whole team is too inconsistent.

I wouldn't go that far, but he is killing our team defense right now. Given the alternatives, I'll stick with Hopson. Once McRae and Golden get here next year, he better be working his a** off because his starting spot is no longer guaranteed. Hell, at this pace, McBee will probably beat him out next year.

 He's right about the inconsistency, but Hopson isn't a waste of a scholarship. Especially with the potential he has

Honestly, I think some of the reason that Hopson isn't progressing like we think he should is because of coaching.

They jumped hard on the "cocks" but sure didn't do anything at all to play the "commodes." Sure hope we have some growl for the cats!

A player has to accept the coaching. To blame his lack of consistency on coaching is ridiculous. Bruce Pearl is not coaching him to be lazy, slow and sit there and watch the ball on defense. What a player does on the court is up to him as far as aggressiveness and tenacity go. And what I saw from Scotty on Tuesday night was neither aggressive or tenacious.

Probably not. But most coaches, when a player does basically the opposite of what he is coached to do, sit his ass on the bench.

Yes. And it's been revealed that Bruce doesn't signal in plays until maybe 14 seconds are left on the shot clock. He doesn't necessarily dislike what they do on those possessions otherwise he would change it

I'm totally for not starting Scotty and making him come off the bench in hopes of that lighting a fire under is :shaking2:
I can't stand watching the kid play anymore and he was who I was the most excited to watch play and develop at tennessee in a long time!
