Obviously games on Dec 20/21 would be during the Christmas break for UT students.
You have to wonder how many would stay in Knoxville to go to the playoff game.
Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that 5000 students do so.
If they didn’t use up their ticket allotment, what is left would be sold to the general public which makes for a little older (less loud?) crowd.
I haven’t heard or seen anywhere how many tickets are required to be given for the opposing team to sell.
Let’s just, for the sake of argument, assume that the opposing school gets 5000 and they sell them all.
And let’s assume we get one of the two night games (there is one night game on Dec 20 and one on Dec21 with the other two games at noon and 4pm on Dec21).
Let’s assume that the temperature for an 8pm at kickoff is between 35-40 degrees.
Now, for my question.
What will the environment be like ?
How loud? Like a typical SEC game against one of our rivals? Or louder?
Our fans will be all wrapped up in jackets and coats (hopefully Orange ones).
Clapping with gloves doesn’t make a lot of noise.
However, will we be all liquored up (think LSU Cajun level drunk) and be rowdy as drunken sailors screaming our voices raw?
Would it matter who we play? Would we be more fired up against Texas than, say, Indiana?
Oh well.
This is a great “problem” to have.
I am just so excited that we are RELEVANT again.
Thank you White, Heupel, Boyd, Donde.
Now just take care of business in Nashville on Saturday and then watch the selection show the following week to see who, when, and where we play.
This is fun, dammit! GBO!!
