There are a couple of Holiday Inns in the outlying areas of Knoxville. I'm pretty sure the Downtown HI would already be sold out. West Knoxville is probably your best option.

Yeah, there's an Express out Farragut way that I have stayed in before. It is decent... certainly a standard Holiday Inn.

I am looking for a hotel for the Bama game. Don't laugh, I know the ones close to the stadium are booked. We just need one close enough for a taxi ride and in a good neighborhood for two girls to stay at alone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Go Vols!!!

West Knoxville is probably the best place to look. Most of the hotels are in clusters and relatively safe areas.

Man, we need a VolNation hotel just to accomodate VN posters. Dub, that sounds like a good project for you.

Actually, if we could show one of the hotels that we have a certain number of posters in need of hotel rooms every week, we could probably get some ambitious manager to put together a VN package deal.

I'm assuming you go to Bama, you could make some friends who live on campus/in the fort and just crash for free..time to start the facebook invites..

But really, I would go with west Knoxville. There are tons of hotels on Cedar Bluff, and Parkside Drive in the Turkey Creek development. Both of these are about 15 min from campus. If they're not booked up, there are a few right down from my apartments on Papermill Road about 10 min from campus.

Not sure how much cabs go for here, though.

You should also consider Alcoa. It is a straight shot to the game on Alcoa Highway(15 minutes, exit Neyland Drive). Most of the motels have shuttles going back and forth to the games.Jameson Inn isn't too bad at all.Better hurry on any room reservation though!

On this note I would like to point out that they have shut down a lane going each direction on Neyland under the Alcoa Bridge for now... they're doing some sort of work on the bridge. I anticipate they expect to be done in the next week and a half, but this is a warning... if they still have those barriers out it will be HELL to drive through there on a gameday. It is bad enough now in the morning.

Hey GV don't knock it!:) My wife and I are headed to New York City mid-October for 4 FREE NIGHTS at HIE.:)

I'm not knocking anything. I'm on the road so much that I think I've got enough Priority Club points for a 10 day trip to Mars. I probably haven't paid for a hotel room in about 3-4 years.

In fact . . . I'm in a Holiday Inn Express right now. :peace2:

I stayed in one in Louisville for the Derby a couple of years ago. Not bad at all. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's also not a Super 8.

I would recommend staying somewhere on Merchants Rd. It is only about a 5 minute drive from campus. It is right down the road from where I live and it is in a nice part of town. There are several hotels and restaurants right off of the exit. It is off of I-75. By staying here you wouldn't have to fight West Knoxville traffic. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will help you out.
