Stayed there off and on for the last 20+ years. Never had an issue.

I actually live in that part of town and it is getting better. Still a bit rough around the edges. If you aren't looking for trouble you are safe but dont wander too far, some bad projects are still around. By the way, just a safety thing here. We have had a problem lately with people breaking into cars while football games are going on so don't leave anything in sight. Good luck with the hotels. Most of the ones in town are a 2 night min. on gameday weekends.
