Houston Nutt Fired.

It's going to come down to Smart, Malzahn, and Freeze.

Why the h*** would anyone want to coach at Ole Miss? The got rid of the best coach they had in a long time when they fired Cutcliffe. Karma is a beotch! Ole Miss is getting what they deserve!

I see Freeze as their most likely candidate. I think Smart is waiting for a better opening. Malzahn is up in the air. If he's anxious, I think he'd be interested, but if he's patient, he'll stay at Auburn.

Cut was done as soon as Eli left. Didn't recruit well at all.

Yea. Cutcliffe has been simply breathtaking at Duke. He's taken a lowly program and has them competing with....no one.

Ole Miss has funding ,but their funding doesn't match Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, or even Arkansas. Support is there, but the fanbase isn't very large.

Given the right head coach, they are able to compete for an SEC Championship every now and then. Ole Miss won't be a consistent power like the above schools mentioned ,but with the right head coach, a good group of players, and some luck, they can compete. However, I don't ever see them becoming a national power again. They can be a consistent (6-6)(7-5) program with an (8-4) record every few years, and have a once in a decade (9-3)(10-2) record.

Perhaps I'm being too kind to Ole Miss fans. After all, they have the 2nd highest following in the Memphis area behind UT.

He no longer looks like a genius without Cam Newton. A couple more mediocre seasons and Gus won't be as valuable. Sometimes you gotta strike while the iron is hot.

He did very well in Tulsa and his first year at Auburn had a very productive offense. Now, I'm not as much into the spread offense as I was 5 years ago, but if you want that type of offense, Malzahn is the first guy I would go to.

Not sure if I could or couldn't see Leach coaching there....that stuff still hanging over him from his previous job?
