How About Krugman's Words for 9/11/11?

Signals intelligence doesn't help as much when the enemy is driven to non-electronic means of communication. Not that it is entirely ineffective, but there is a reason there was a courier.

Isn't any analysis, by definition, forced to rely on assumptions and ignore variables? I mean, a real world system can only be completely modeled by a model as complex as the original system. In other words, there can be no reduction of complexity without determining which variables to ignore and which ones to include. Right?

Absolutely. Some economic models are simpler than others. In principle, most tend to be right, but none, particularly this one, can take in all the potential side effects of implementation.

Conversation goes like this:

Me - How do we get wealthier by charging ourselves higher prices?
BPV - It's more complicated than that.

No need to keep circling.

Not sure the point, but clearly someone in America gets wealthier by charging higher prices, particularly those doing the charging. If we've offshored the jobs, that doesn't necessarily hold true or doesn't at all. Why is this complicated? Why is it complicated that relative labor price isn't the only measure by which we should decide where products are produced?

This is funny. If you start watching at the 3' mark he talks about starting a collaborative blog to fact check everything Krugman wrote in the NYT. They found such blatant dishonesty that the NYT changed their policy. They had never retracted or corrected statements in Opinion columns before. Now it's standard procedure. Let's call it the Krugman rule.

Don Luskin is an American hero. I had a leftist friend who would email Krugman's columns to me and I would reply with Luskin's rebuttal columns. My friend eventually stopped because he realized, but never admitted, that Krugman was both a moron and a liar.
