How are the experts picking OSU?

Hopson needs to stay in Deibler's shirt and not let him go off. Turner will get his (he'll also turn the ball over 5+ times). Boards should be a slight edge for us and d's will both cause 15 turnovers. We need a third player to step up because I expect Chism and Prince to both play well.

I have no idea how anyone is expecting the Buckeyes to win this ball game. I'm not saying that it is a lock for the Vols to win, but given the stats, it's tough to think that the Vols aren't favored.

They only go 7-deep and have 7 bench points in this tournament.

Past OSU's top 6, the depth drops off at a rapid pace.

I think that our depth and defense will wear OSU out and by the end of the game, they will be dead tired and the Vols will pull away.
:twocents:

Actually, we only go 6 deep, but only 5 guys play at a time in basketball.

I've been saying it constantly on here OSU'S LACK OF A BENCH DOESN'T MATTER. The only time it does is foul trouble. From a fatigue standpoint, it doesn't. We are in great shape. And with Sunday-Friday off, it won't be a huge impact.

I'm expecting a great game on Friday.

Respect is one solid weekend away.

Unfortunately, that is not true.

If if the Vols do sweep the weekend, the experts will say it wasn't because of what Vols did. Rather it is what those did around them and it fell in their laps.

if the Vols make it to the final 4 they will be bragging on CBP for even getting the team to this point. Plus they will be talking about us non stop which is never a bad thing. IMO it will actually be a huge UT love fest.

Yes they will discuss KU losing since it's one of the biggest upsets in the past few years but once you get to 4 the seeds you beat get forgotten a bit

Don't worry about what the experts say. The same experts missed on St. Marys, N. Iowa, and Cornell just to name a few. They are only right 50% of the time.

Reality is, UT won two tournament games against lower seeds.

Reality is(no comma) many people were picking SDSU to upset Tennessee. Who won? The Vols.

Reality is that Ohio beat a stout 3 seed Georgetown team by 14(scoring 97 points in the process). So, it's not like Ohio(who the Vols beat by 15) was some team of scrubs.

You say it as though Tennessee stumbled into the Sweet 16. In fact, aside from the SECT Champ Game(in which UT was obviously tired from playing an extra game) we went 1-1 with your mighty Wildcats. Hop off your high horse chief.

Calm down Sparky. You don't have to go all defensive. All I pointed out is common sense, which you helped prove with your point. People were picking SDSU to beat UT, so obviously the initial view from the "experts" was that UT wasn't that good.

Just because they won that game, and the game against Ohio (both lower seeds) isn't a reason to think that you should automatically beat a 2 seed conference Champ with the POY. Does that not make sense to you?

UT didn't stumble into anything. They earned exactly what they have. It has nothing to do with a high horse or the Cats. So quit trying to make it something its not.

I'm not gonna disagree with that, i do, however, find it unbelievable that every single headcase on ESPN is picking Ohio St. to win. This just in, Ohio St. is good, but they aren't great by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm not mad because we're underdogs, personally i like being the underdogs, but just like the other poster said, the media is overplaying them, they have a great player in turner, the rest are containable, and they have no bench what-so-ever. Tennessee has more than a good chance to beat them, and yet the media doesn't seem to think so.

I know Ohio St has a solid team, but so do we. And although i understand why we're underdogs, i just don't see why it's such a one-sided love affair.

It should not be taken so personally if a few experts and Vegas are favoring the Buckeyes. They were co-champs of a tougher conference (almost certainly would have won it outright if Turner doesn't get hurt) and won their conference tournament. Only lost three games all year when Turner was playing. Does that mean they will win the game? Of course not. Foul trouble will beat them more than anything else. Cold shooting will beat any team. They shoot 49.4% as a team for the season. That's pretty high.

Athleticism, length, depth - they've faced it all this season. They are a very difficult team to defend and, in spite of having a superstar on the team, have three others who can fill it up. Should be a great game. The Vols are very capable of winning this one. If they beat Kansas and Kentucky, of course they can win Friday night.

Just be glad that OH St. is favored. In this tourney, the underdogs are doing well.

I don't have the overall numbers in front of me, but I've been playing mostly favorites (Duke, 'Cuse, Kentucky, Maryland in their first round game, and a couple others I'm not remembering) and doing quite well.

I did win a couple bets on dogs (NMex St. covered against Izzo; St. Mary's won outright twice as a dog), but mostly I've been taking a select group of favorites that I like and, ladies and gentlemen, I have been KILLING IT.

(all of this is of course hypothetical as we all know that gambling isn't legal).

With all of that being said, the UT/OSU line is not one that I would go anywhere near. Tennessee can certainly win the game, and I actually have a funny feeling that they will. But they could also get torched by 20.

Tennessee is an enigma. I've watched nearly all of their games, and I still can't figure them out.

Why do you think that we will wear them out when they have played with a short bench all season and nobody else wore them out?

I think he is just saying that they have had a short bench all season and it hasn't stopped them from winning the Big Ten... I doubt we can really wear them out because I'm sure every team has tried that this season
