that the state of Tennessee has so many quality prospects this year?

I know it still doesn't compare to GA, TX, FL...and it never will...but in a year that is so vital to how fast we can rebuild I think it's huge to have so many high quality guys in the state...

I can see us signing 10-12 guys from TN if the cards fall the right way....

How many do you all see us signing from TN?

For every one 4 star player that we have in Tennessee the state of Florida probably has 3

I'm all for getting as much in-state talent as possible. This is looking to be an above average year in TN so I hope we clean up. However, I would say on average over a 5 year period, that for every one TN 4*, there are 5 or more in FL.

Last year, TN had 6 4star or better players (Smith, Maclin, Stone, Brunetti, Malone, and Brown). FL had 50 4star or better players last year, more than 8X the amount TN had.

I could see us offering up to 8 or 9 in-state players this year. Landing 6 of them would be awesome.

Yep and for every actual person in TN(2009 pop:6,296,254), the state of FL has 3 (2009 pop:18,537,969).

Actually its 2.94 but close enough. So what's your point?

And Florida has three big time schools in Miami, UF and FSU.

So the talent gets spread around

Out of the 50 4star or better prospects in FL last year, only 30 of them stayed in the state of FL and that includes USF, UCF, and FIU. That means they had over 3X the 4star talent leave the state than TN had in the state.

How awesome is it that I finally have a job interview Friday, Volnation!!!!! I've been out of work since December when the company where I worked as an Operations and Finance Manager merged with a national firm and my position was eliminated. I have been looking for an eternity and finally have an interview!! I was considering going back to school to get my PhD. because I have had such a hard time even getting an interview in this stinking economy, but the University of Memphis turned me down last week so I wouldn't be able to reapply until 2011.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic post, just wanted to share some exciting news for me and also wanted to ask for all of Volnation to please take a moment and say a prayer for me on Friday. I need to work to maintain my sanity at this point!

One other thing that most do not take into account is that florida and other southern states have a larger african american population than does tennessee.
Which means, of course, more atheletes. And no I'm not racist

Good luck. I was laid off for 5 months myself about year or two back. It is not a lot of fun. Best of luck to you sir. I will drink my next beer in your honor. Go Vols.

Floridas 30th best player is probably better than Tennessees number one player. All im saying is that Floridas talent is alot better than ours.

If we sign 10-12 kids from Tennessee, we are in trouble.
