How bad is Florida without Tebow?

I don't think I've ever seen a team rely more on one player to carry them. Given, they do have a lot of other talent but I just don't see it being used. Harvin makes some plays but gets hurt a lot, Brandon James is a good KR but thats about all I've seen other than Tebow. Corneilous Ingram should be getting a lot more opportunites. If Tebow goes down UF could be a 4 loss team again at years end. They should be able to at least duplicate last season, even if they lost Tebow; with all the talent they return. Schedule is easier too. They have some good backup QB's but they are VERY young at this point. We will see how much pressure Rainey and Moody can take off of Tebow if any. Or if Meyer can get off Tebow's nuts long enough to utilize his other players. Oh and their defense better hope they don't get anyone hurt as well because even with all that talent, they are still young, and very thin.

The Gator fans believe that Meyer knows this from last years efforts and that is why he is trying to spread the ball around to other players, such as Rainey, Harvin, Demps, Ingram and others. If he has realized this and is able to take some of the load off of Tebow, then Florida has a excellent shot @ the SEC title.

Meyer will have to have almost a injury free season to do so, yet, Harvin is injury prone and Rainey and Demps are small speedsters that may not be able to withstand the full 12 game schedule of a season.

Wait and see.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see if Meyer can actually stop riding Tebow once they get to the meat of their schedule and in a real game situation. I think it will be very tempting for him to go back to the "sure thing" in crucial situations. May come back to bite him. But for sure, that defense. Wow, they are in trouble if anybody gets hurt. DL, LB's, and especially in the secondary. Other than USC I don't think there is another team in the country with as much first string talent as UF. But their depth should be a major concern for them at almost all positions.

And with all the hard-hitting LB's like Mccoy, I think they need to watch where they are running or they might end up with bruised/broken ribs. idk if anybody has ever had bruised ribs and still tried to play the next game. When I tried I got taken out in the first quarter because you cant go as fast as you can because your ribs are hurting and your lungs cant expand. But if they get used right then I see florida coming in atleast 2nd in the east this year.

Florida last year is what Georgia is going to be this year with Knowshon Moreno, They are acting like he is god himself. Im not saying he is not good, im just saying that if he gets hurt the only thing they have left is a passing game, which teams will already know what is coming

I think the real problem for UF w/out Tebow is that he's the whole package for what they want to do. He's a threat to run or throw, knows that O like the back of his hand, and is very intelligent.

Newton looked awful throwing the ball in their spring game and apparently isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Brantley supposedly throws better and has the smarts but isn't someone that who can provide a real running threat.

With serious, serious questions on their D, they could have a really rough year without Tebow's ability to put points on the board leading that O.

Ha yeah and I'm still not even sold on Stafford and Georgia's passing game, especially with no stud WR's. Massaquoi? lol. Looks like UF and UGA have a lot of "stars" but if they get hurt they're in trouble. I like our depth a lot on O with reliable veterns, mixed with some talented young guys. We might not have as many big name stars as UF and UGA (yet) but it looks like we are better built to withstand a SEC season at this point. Even if Crompton got hurt we still have a backup going into his third year and its not as if we have to rely on our QB to do it all. We are deep with guys who have proven they can make plays, and take some pressure off the QB. Just get them the ball...

Injuries in one year (in reference to Harvin) does not make a player injury prone IMO. But to answer you question it would be devistating to them to lose their starting QB. But that holds true for most teams. How about if JC gets hurt?

I like JC and hope for nothing but the best. However, I don't think you can believe that he means as much to UT's season right now as Tebow does to UF's.

Well until he proves otherwise, I can say he is hurt a lot.

Harvin missed a few games in 2006. Then he missed a couple in 2007. And was mostly hurt when he played throughout his career. That makes him injury prone.

Haha what a joke. "Loaded at RB" ? Please. Those guys haven't even seen the field yet. "Loaded at WR" They lost Andre Caldwell to the NFL, and they have Harvin. Who else? Better hope Harvin stays healthy this year. TE yes I give them that one with Ingram, and Hernandez. And they are a little young on the O-line and lost 2 seniors if i'm not mistaking. No quarterback has proven anything other than Tebow. No WR or RB other than hurt again Harvin. They have a lot of talent but little experience. Yeah their loaded alright....loaded full of crap

I know what you are saying about us not having to rely on our QB quite the same way Florida rely's on Tebow. However, I personally think if Crompton gets hurt this year, we are in a world of trouble.

More experience than you have....lost one senior on offensive line.

I thought you guys lost two with Carlton Medder and Drew Miller? But more experience than we have? Be serious, we return EVERY single person from our starting O-line from the last 6 games of last season plus another proven backup in Vlad Richard. You may have a few more talented players like Tebow, Harvin, Spikes, Ingram but you DO NOT have more experience than us as an overall team. No way

Seriously?? We lost Caldwell and Miller on offense plus Derrick Harvey and Tony Joiner on defense. Medder didn't start all season and got replaced by a true freshman midway through the season. Our rb situation is like your wr situation. We both have talent, it depends on who steps up. You all lost quite a bit on defense. My $.02 for what it's worth.......

I knoe Tebows backup his more a specimin than tebow is.

Did you see the UF spring game? I did.

Newton was absolutely horrible. He was highly rated and supposedly had a great arm... but he didn't show a good release, velocity, or accuracy.

The meanwhile, TT ripped their secondary.

"Our WR situation"? I wasn't aware we had a situation at wide reciever? We return all of our WR's including 1,000 yarder Lucas Taylor and verterans Briscoe and Rogers. Not to mention Gerald Jones who proved himself the end of last year. WR just might be the strongest part of our team next to the OL. I don't know what you're talking about...

I think we lost a couple players on defense but, other than Mayo, who did we lose that was so great? Karl? Hefney? Mapu? Mitchell? Reynolds? Our DEs will be much better and faster. Our DTs will be more experienced, but we have to see if they step up. Our LBs will be just as athletic and Wilson will turn alot of heads. If Williams gets in for sure and plays LB, our LBs will be better as well. You played against a very green secondary as well. They are 50x better right now than what you saw.

Add what cs said about our WRs. Our questions are depth at DT, QB, and the new OC. Right now, I'd say 2 of the 3 will be just fine. We do need to find a 4th and 5th DT, though.
