You guys arguing about who is the best really need to know that there is an elite set of guys in racing that could probably drive anything anywhere, no difficulty. Outside of that, the differences in what they drive means that a comparison can't be made. I will say that NASCAR probably has three of those guys, while F1 has one, but again, because of the restrictiveness of F1 contracts, it's hard to really know.
Plus 1
And Montoya's lack of success has little to do with any judging. Again, this is a guy who's been in single seaters his entire career, racing mainly on road courses. It's completely different and outside of the elite few, it's too much to ask for instant success, and to be honest, he's had two wins and really should have three. He's made the Chase, too.
Montoya had a similar knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in Formula... Difference is there seems to be a much larger chasm between good and bad crews and cars in F1 than in NASCAR. Get a good car in F1 with a Romo-esque driver like Montoya, and the drop is from podium to 5th-8th ish or whatever. In the Sprint Cup, it's the difference between contending and not making the chase.
I just prefer F1 because of the drivers and road courses, but I can see many reasons that make NASCAR more compelling.
A friend of mine had the chance to drive a formula 3 car a few years back, he said that you have to be crazy good to even complete a lap without spinning.
Do love me some watkins glen, and glad to still see them on infineon. I've been there, that track is absolute madness

Haven't driven anything that crazy, just high power four and one cylinders (think Formula SAE-type stuff) at high-speed outdoor tracks, and yeah, they're really not too difficult to get a handle on. Would love to make a serious go at carting if I didn't weigh 225lbs.
Yeah, the place I usually go karting has 9hp indoor, and they make time adjustments based on weight.
Heard of those, and that theyre kinda crappy in that respect. The outdoor place I frequent in canby has 15hp in what are basically go karts but the venue regularly hosts drift events and gsxr shifter karts. Needs to get me in one of those...
