How dare Hart

Charlie Strong is the man for the job. For one, we know he can both recruit and coach in college. The same couldn't be said for Jon Gruden, who got fired from his last job before entering a five-year coaching hiatus.

It's embarrassing how stupid the lovefest with Gruden got. Gruden lovers should be clamoring for Bill Cowher now. Same credentials, better coach.

and yet there are people convinced that a former NFL coach and current ESPN announcer, who has never coached a single collegiate game, will be the savior of UT football

if Strong can't make the move to the SEC, what hope is there that Gruden will after four years away from the sidelines?

Sometimes you just pay for a name. Sometimes as a parent I just suck it up and buy the designer handbag for my daughter or the ridiculously priced boots even though the price is outrageous -- and I mean really outrageous. Some names are really worth a lot. They define your status. Gruden may not have been a great college coach, I don't know, but his name alone coaching the Vols would have elevated our status immediately both within the SEC and nationally.

You're right. It's completely implausible that he never really wanted the damn job in the first place. Gruden has been playing Just-The-Tip with us and errbody else for 5 years. It's not likely to stop any time soon.

I honestly wish I knew for sure if he did or did not want it. There are several options out there and good coach's who would kill to have the UT job and bust their a$$'s to succeed. I may just be a bad judge of character but truely believe Strong is everything I mentioned previously and knows the hard work it takes to win in the SEC and would respect and embrace the culture, tradition and Maxim's at UT and fully embrace the fanbase as well. Everyone has their opinion and guy they want after Gruden and Strong is the guy I want.

I know what's been all over VN. I was just looking for the truth.:hi:

Well, you might be looking in the wrong place, because the source folks on here are having a serious problem with accurate information.

My point, sort of. I scoured the nets and websites for anything. Only thing I've seen printed from anyone close to the situation was from Gruden's agent.

We hire Strong and you will never see a top 10 anything.

Bet you a dinner at your fave eating place your 100% wrong. Most people seem to trust and value Skeeters opinion, as do I and he believes Strong lands at worst a top 10 class this yr and top 555 next year. No offense to you Daddy but im gonna go with the guy who knows the inside and out of recruiting than either of us. He has strong ties in Florida and again recruits love the man.

Sometimes I do. My point is that high school recruits trying to decide where to commit can't be that much different than my daughter who is about their same age -- 17 almost 18. Names matter to them. You can say all day long that they shouldn't, but they do.

No, unlike many on here, I'll freely admit that I don't know one single fact of what is or has happened. So, again, what was the dollar amount that Gruden was asking?

I never claimed to know and just what I saw on here but more than Saban makes and upward to 9 mill plus for he and assistants plus the full control that was mentioned. If he only wanted 4 mil and some for his assistants and not much control I bet he would be here now. Doesnt take inside info to figure that out.

I apologize. Like I first said, just looking for some facts. Still looking and haven't seen or found anything substantial other than rumors and speculations.:hi:

Hmmmm....that is why his 2012 class was in the forties?

I will take the bet but it only exists if he ends up at UT.

Seriously cant believe I even have to go into this but I am. He is not going to have a top 10 class at Louisville. At UT he will have a full amout of anything he needs to be successful. Cannot believe I actually have to explain that to a Vol or SEC fan. You really should be embarrased.
