As I was searching the board today I was just wondering what everyones connection with the UT program is. With people all over the country on the board, I was curious as to how everyone became a Vol fan.

I grew up in South Ga, but had an uncle and two cousins that have played for the Vols, not to mention the fact that my parents both hated Vince Dooley. I have had Vol gear, and been a fan for as long as I can remember. What is your story?

Born in Tenn. but lived in Alabama most of grade school yrs, pulled for anyone not in crimson. Went to UT (work for them now)during the Cobb/Webb years and caught Big Orange Fever , for which there is no cure.

Born and raised in Tennessee. Seemed only right to be for THE University of Tennessee. I probably would've went to school there and dropped out after one semester if I lived close enough.

First UT memory was the Citrus Bowl against Ohio State.

I was 9 when I moved to America from England and the only football I knew was English football. We lived a year in West Virgina and then my dad took a job in Tennessee an hour South of Knoxville and everybody was vol crazy so hence I became a vol fan. The 86 Sugar bowl was the best game of my high school days I went out the next day and purchased a sweatshirt with Sugar Bowl Champs on it and I still own it to this day and later on my sister went to UT and I got to go to a few games and It was the best and I've never looked back even through the rough years and let me tell you everybody I work with knows I'm a vols fan.

Always lived close by. First memory believe it or not is the miracle in South Bend. My first live game, was Peyton's first start. (I'm 27 this year). I have a record of every game I have been to, the score, what tv channel it was on and I was engaged in the North EndZone a few years ago. My first born will bare the middle name "Neyland" as a tribute to that fact.

I went to my 1st game in the mid 70's...UCLA vs Tennessee......ended in a tie. I loved all the sights n sounds, I already loved football....after that I was hooked. My 1st favorite player was Billy Arbo, a flanker.

I used to like Memphis State.

By the time I was 12, I was tired of taking sh*t for it.

I was and remain an avid fan of the dukes of hazzard. Orange was and still is my favorite color. With football being my favorite sport, it all just fell into place. :biggrin2: :huggy: :matrix:

My Dad graduated from Tennessee amd I grew up in Tennessee before moving to Georgia. I was about a month away from attending Tennessee when I got the chance to play golf at a small NAIA school that didn't have football. Transferred to and graduated from Georgia State . . . which didn't have football either. It was easy to remain a Vol fan.

I was born in Winchester. My Dad went to school with Bill Rudder's Dad and that's why we initially started watching them. My brother-in-law graduated with Coach Fulmer and we also followed his career. Been a fan ever since, which was easy even being in a nest of Dawg Fans.

My dad attended UT (Nashville) through GI bill.Eventually, after getting a manager job(Nashville),salesmen started buying him free lunches and giving him free tickets to UT games.During this time he met and shook hands with Sam Walton, eventual owner of company my dad worked for.

I was born into it. My grandparents took me to my first game before I was 3 and I didn't miss a game until I was probably 6 or 7, and even then would go from time to time. I attended UT for awhile and didn't miss a game while there.
The first thing that I asked my husband when we met was whether or not he had a favorite college team (he's from GA, so I was a little afraid!) He said that he didn't, so I gave him no choise but to become a Vol fan if he wanted to be with me!! :birgits_giggle:
We have my family's season tickets, so I have sat in the same seats my whole life and CANNOT wait!!! for this season to start. And, I LOVE being a die hard VOL fan in the middle of a bunch of Dawg fans!

both my parents, and my aunt and uncle went to UTK, my mom's parents became big fans while my mom was there....so i was born in to it....my mom is kind of nuts about it though....my house was the only house i can remember where on Saturdays in the fall, it was the men saying to the women..."hey, it's only a game? relax!". I probably get my "excitement" for the Vols from her....

I've often said that September thru December are the only months of the year my mom cusses....(which isn't true!!! :birgits_giggle: ) but man, you ought to watch a game with her...it's almost as fun as the game itself.

And then i graduated from the UTK school of business as well....so, i don't know any other way to be.
