Been a Vol fan since I was a little kid. My dad and uncle took me to see my first game when I was 4 @ Vandy, and I've been hooked ever since.

Not gonna ask how that zoology degree translates into pediatrics. :p
Biology - botany = zoology. At least he wasn't studying plants!!!

KD, I graduated with a BS in zoology from UT in December 1996. I'd be willing to bet we had a class or two together. You weren't in that God-awful animal behavior class that Dr. Greenburg taught, were you?

I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. My first football memories are of Doug Williams in the Super Bowl and Andy Kelly and Carl Pickens. Then as I got older Heath Shuler and the Vols played Alabama to a tie.

As I got older and my friends ragged more and more on me being a Tennessee I relished being a Tennessee fan amongst Kentucky fans. Nothing makes me happier than going into Commonwealth Stadium or Rupp Arena covered in orange!

Went to Tennessee for the first time in Nov of 98. Fell in love with the area first then started watching the games. Its just something that gradually happened. The place, tradition, everything just sucks you in. I fell like this is where I have always belonged!!!

Yeah, Zoology used to be the biggest "pre-med" major. My year was, I believe, the last year it was offerred. Since then, the whole shebang is now called "Ecology and Evolutionary Biology." It was the best way to study animals and anatomy without having to do boo-coos of chemistry. We still had to have Biochem and Organic, of course.

Neander, I believe I did take that course, but have since blocked it from my memory. I'm sure we at least shared a class or two, maybe even dissection (CVA) in the attic?

AND. . . . I look good in Orange. (Despite what my wife might say)
Was Dr. Pat Wall still there when you went through UTM? I graduated there in Dec '76. Dr. Wall was great and almost everyone in my class wanted to go into Peds (until they got into the clinical rotations and had to try to start scalp vein IV's in two pound premies.)

As a non medico, let me thank you for giving me that visual thought this afternoon... :yuck:

Of course. He's a Vol medicine legend. He's actually still active as the Membership Chair of the TN chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Not much has changed, I guess, except that now it's ONE pound babies!

Yep, I definitely spent some time up in the attic. I can't remember when I took it, though. Spring '96 I believe.

Never "became" a Vol fan, I had just am. :biggrin2: From the stories told, the first words after my birth were, "Thank God, I am not sick anymore", and "Don't spank her butt, spank some orange all over that girl!". And, so it has come to be, been in orange ever since.

Dad born and raised in Knoxville. Went into Army. Always watched and followed Vols moving around. When I decided to go to college there was only one choice. Went from following to outright fan during my four years at UT. Fall grades always took a hit.
