I hope we have practiced well and somehow we have improved point play. Unforced errors will simply kill us. We have to have, or find, a good mid range shooting game. Stanford will more than likely sag the post and forcing it in will create turnovers. Our post are more athletic but Stanford's post will make us work. I think Izzy will be by far the best big on the floor. Holly will need Graves and Burdick to be active and show some toughness.

Stanford's guards are pretty good, so that advantage belongs to them. They can also shoot the rock. How successful Stanford's offensive guard play is, will depend upon the guards Holly chooses to guard them. The Mocs did not give them much air.

If Tucker is ready and can shoot as advertised, we sure need her on the floor. We have to score from mid to long range in order to make our low post offense work. So far we do not have a reason to believe our offense will improve but another game may bring the unusual into reality.Go Lady Vols!!!!!!

To expect Tucker to have a huge game is setting her for failure to be attacked on this board, let just her get on the floor, how she does doesn't matter.

Lady vols wins this game with defense and rebounding duh. lol And the guards scoring 15-20 points (1&2 shooting over 40%).

Izzy & Jones have to have a good game both are an advantage or the Lady Vols, watch out for the t.o. ladies.

Defend the two guards and let the other players beat ya.

Lady Vols by 13. Stanford isn't athletic so we should win this game.

I admit, While I always showed such pride in Pat, I took her success for granted.
Despite donating and attending a few games, I honestly did not give womens BB a second glance. I wasn't being sexist, I don't give the mens team much attention either.

It wasn't until I started reading threads like "How do we win" that I realized how much I took the old days as a granted.
I remember when the Titans went to the the superbowl, the fb Vols were a always a threat and the LVs just dominated. I once told a friend "We're TN, it's what we do"

Please let us get back to who we are.

If Tucker were to have a big game it would surprise the hell out of me. I would just like to see her on the floor. A huge game from someone who hasn't played for two years is unrealistic, though it can certainly happen. I think our defense is good enough to beat most teams, but we need to shoot better and stop unforced errors. I know we are a more athletic team than Stanford, with the exception of the two guards, however , I believe we have guards with their ability or potentially a little better. If we play up to our capability I would not be surprised to see a double digit victory.

Stanford plays Uconn again they lose by 30.

I always say who's the best team is the one that would win a series.

Like if we would play UTC for 10 games, I see us winning 80% of those games.

I think the championship game for wcbb should be a 3 game series.

My main concern is with how poorly Stanford shot in their last game against Chattanooga (27.7% FG. 23.5% 3pt). It's unlikely they'll have back to back games shooting like that.
No doubt we are the more athletic team but that comes mostly into play when we push the ball upcourt. I don't want to see us get caught up in a deliberate half court game with the score in the 50's again. We have to use our athleticism.
Unless Stanford can shoot >35% or so from behind the 3pt line, I see a close win. (so far this year, teams are shooting 28.8% against us from 3pt range)

Lady Vols 68- Stanford 63

Well, the game's at TBA, so don't forget the crowd is a factor!

If we can get stops and rebound with greed, we've got a great chance. A big showing by Alex would be cool.

Hey Uconn, Stanford isn't athletic. :)

There are games won by teams with lesser athletism but at the time more heart and desire than the adversary. Texas beat us but I sill believe we have the best athletes. It is hard to measure the affect of desire, heart, and coaching.

I don't think this or the next game is a good place for Tucker to make her debut. I guess we could get her out there for five minutes in this game and see if she can help. Hopefully Holly has figured out that a 30 percent shooter lifetime is going to shoot 30 percent. Give us a chance by setting up the best outside shooters for shots. People that have not shot well ever are not going to suddenly become shooters.

One of our problems, true for decades, is that we aren't athletic enough at guard to bother teams defensively on the perimeters. Carter can, but she's the only one. Massengale and Reynolds and Middleton are all a bit on the wide side and don't have the quickness needed to be great defenders--and AM seems rather lazy defensively to me, which is a major problem. Their size can be an asset on offense, and it's not that they aren't athletic--they just don't have the quickness that top guards have. Perimeter defense has been a problem for us for a few years--we'll see how it goes today.

We'll see what both these teams have today. Stanford beat Ct., which is impressive, but they've also lost 3 times, including the Mocs defeat, so they surely have vulnerabilities of their own. I expect that we will bother them some defensively with our size, I expect us to rebound fairly well (which is always our strength)--and then we will see how our guards play and how the offense goes (our two weaknesses). If they are improved, decent-to-good chance of a win. If they are not improved, decent chance for a loss.

Not to often in the women's game but it does happen, yes. 30-2 33-4....top teams in the women game seldom lose, athletic teams, yes.

I thought Texas starting five was just or a lil more athletic than us without Izzy, especially their posts

Stanford is young and inexperienced. We should win this game.

If you have not seen the SEC channel's special on Pat Summitt you owe it to yourself to see it. I don't care how many NC's UCONN wins there will never be a better women's coach ever. The game is what it is today because Pat worked her ass off to put it where it is. Nine 4 IX is a love story about a beautiful lady who gave the game her all. Pat I truly miss you, you are the best.

UGLY (if they win at all)!! As much as I want to see the LV's win, I am not a subscriber of the "A Win is Win" mantra. For once, I would like to see the LV's defeat a solid team in dominating fashion -- not because we were the less worse of the two teams, which is usually the case these days (years). And to clarify, although Stanford is struggling this season, they still meet my criteria for a solid team...better than average players and a good coach.

Well, time to fix a sandwich, grab a beer and sit down in my front and center seat. Go LV's!!

We can ***** all we want but this was a great defensive win. Massengale was as hot as a $2 pistol. We need her shooting. Yes a little more offense would help but a job well done lady.

Hey, I gotta give credit where credit is due. The defense stepped up and gave a great effort for 40 minutes; and while the shooting percentage on offense isn't where we'd like it, I thought we did a better job of being patient and getting better quality shots, save for a few rushed airballs on three attempts.

In short, I saw IMPROVEMENT which indicates there is some COACHING and LEARNING going on. If this continues every game, we should be in pretty good shape come March Madness.

Off Topic: Did the announcers acknowledge or have any clue about Jannah entering the game? I immediately hear the crowd give a big cheer but the announcers seemed oblivious to the significance of her stepping on the court.
