How do the Lady Vols win on Saturday

Hey, I gotta give credit where credit is due. The defense stepped up and gave a great effort for 40 minutes; and while the shooting percentage on offense isn't where we'd like it, I thought we did a better job of being patient and getting better quality shots, save for a few rushed airballs on three attempts.

In short, I saw IMPROVEMENT which indicates there is some COACHING and LEARNING going on. If this continues every game, we should be in pretty good shape come March Madness.

Off Topic: Did the announcers acknowledge or have any clue about Jannah entering the game? I immediately hear the crowd give a big cheer but the announcers seemed oblivious to the significance of her stepping on the court.
If they did, we didn't hear it. The crowd knew she was at the table and gave her a big cheer when she went in.

Defense was great, passing better, still a few scary ones but none we had to pay for.
AND CAN WE GIVE KUDOS TO:
1) the band for picking up when the sound system went out at the pre game Lady Vols' entrance. They were very quick and got the fans involved. That had to hype the girls up.
2) Men's basketball team attending with CDT.
3) Football team attending with CBJ; they really got into it when they came in and it seemed to positively affect the girls' performence.

One of our problems, true for decades, is that we aren't athletic enough at guard to bother teams defensively on the perimeters. Carter can, but she's the only one. Massengale and Reynolds and Middleton are all a bit on the wide side and don't have the quickness needed to be great defenders--and AM seems rather lazy defensively to me, which is a major problem. Their size can be an asset on offense, and it's not that they aren't athletic--they just don't have the quickness that top guards have. Perimeter defense has been a problem for us for a few years--we'll see how it goes today.

I know which player you were referring to, but we have to watch comments like that because they're not fair to Alexa. She reminds me a lot of Jolly, who wasn't uber-athletic either, but who was pretty quick and a good defender because she was tough and a hard worker.
